"Beauty as Spiritual Practice"

Led by Rev. Rosemarie Newberry

THIS SUNDAY'S COLLECTION PLATE

The “Love and Help: A UU Scouting” class has been working hard at learning their UU principles and how they relate to the principles of Scouting. This Sunday they will practice their 5th principle - organizing a vote. Before the service everyone will be able to vote for one of three possible recipients of our split offering plate. They have consulted with staff and have picked three organizations; St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Centernourish.NJ, or a to be determined Parkinsons organization in support of the Parkinsons Support Group that meets in our building. Before the service, see one of our students to vote. We will announce the winner before the offering on Sunday.

Last week, we collected $342.00 for the Minister's Discretionary Account

Thank You for Your Financial Support!

Religious Education

Looking towards Next Year in Children and Youth Religious Education

"I think we can learn together, but we don't have to always be separate to learn important things" -Rev. Sasha Ostrom

As we continue to grow closer as a community and larger in size, it will be more and more important for us to intentionally be together; singing together...

Religious Education Volunteers Needed

We need lots of help to pull this off. We need your help! There are three children's classes, Coming of Age, Youth Group, and Adult Small Groups. We are looking for lead teachers who would be the primary contact for each class, coordinating with the DRE materials, volunteer schedules, attendance, ect.

From the DRE

This Sunday is our last day of Regular RE: Spirit Play, Holidays and Holy-days, & Love & Help.

  • Our Love & Help students will facilitate a vote for the recipient of our Sunday Plate as they practice their 5th principle (The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process…). Everyone will be able to vote before the service.
  • The Beginnings class will have an extended session through noon, that will include an early lunch.
  • After the service, Green Earth Ministry will lead kids and adults in planting wildflowers around our building.

Child Supervision:

The safety of our children and youth is of utmost importance, and as such, we have created a Children’s and Youth Programs Safety Policy. These policies are adopted from the Unitarian Universalist Association and affirmed by our Board.

Per our policy:

1. DURING RE PROGRAMMING TIME (currently 9:00- 10:00), children and youth are supervised at all times by at least two non-related or non-partnered adults” who have an up-to-date background check.

2. AT ALL OTHER TIMES, parents/ guardians are responsible for supervision of their children/ youth (including before classes start, during service and during coffee hour). There are spaces that are open to children, but they MUST be accompanied by parents/guardians. During the Sunday Morning Service, these spaces include only the Meeting room, Library, Sensory Room, and Nursery. (The nursery is children 5 and under and if there is a need for fellowship provided childcare in the nursery, families should reach out to the DRE).

Building Project Update

The installation of the flat brick on the front facade is nearing completion. The insulation is in and Alex West was running wire for the WIFI over the weekend - things are moving along!

A video of the construction timeline can be accessed here.

Please remember to follow the signs and fencing and remain out of the construction area.

And finally, please contact Shari Loe or Franklin Heller at drww@muuf.org or visit our website to see how you can help or to donate.

This Week

Do you want assurance of your legal right to pure water, clean air, a stable climate, and a healthy environment? You can!

This Sunday, May 19th, GEM is providing support to UUFaithActionNJ in its campaign for just

that: urging our state legislators to enable a public vote for a Green Amendment to the NJ State Constitution. Please come to the Dining Room following the Sunday service. It will take you 5-10 minutes to complete the postcards we have prepared.

Let's plant a future wildflower garden this Sunday, May 19! The Green Earth Ministry invites children, youth, parents, and friends to help plant wildflower seedlings. After the Sunday service, we'll gather on the grass oval for light snacks and instructions. Then we'll carefully walk across the driveway toward the uphill edge of the main parking lot. That's where we'll put in a few dozen small plants. Please bring a small trowel if you have one, and wear gardening clothes and shoes.

Please RSVP here
