Electric Bicycles

The City of Murrieta recently adopted an ordinance to address public safety concerns surrounding the recent increase in electric bicycle usage.

The new city ordinance talks a lot about E-conveyance devices. What is that? E-conveyance device is the umbrella term that includes e-bicycles, e-scooters, and e-skateboards.

What constitutes each device as being an ‘e-device’?

  • E-bikes are defined as bicycles that are equipped with fully operable pedals AND an electric motor of less than 750 watts.
  • E-scooters are defined as two or three-wheeled devices with handlebars, a floorboard designed to be stood on, and an electric motor. Some scooters may also have a seat that doesn’t interfere with the rider’s ability to stand while riding.
  • E-skateboards are defined as four-wheel devices that have a floorboard that is designed to be stood on when riding and is propelled by an electric motor.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue

Murrieta Ready

The City of Murrieta takes disaster preparedness seriously, and we encourage you to join our “Murrieta Ready” initiative. As a resident, you can take steps to ensure your safety and well-being in an emergency. By being prepared, you can take care of yourself

and your family until help arrives.

YOUR GO-BAG ESSENTIALS:

Think of your go-bag as an emergency backpack filled with items to sustain you for at least 72 hours (3 days). Here’s an essential checklist to get you started:

  • Non-perishable food (enough for three days): Canned goods, protein bars, energy bars
  • Water (one gallon per person per day): Consider water purification tablets if space allows
  • First-aid kit: Include bandages, pain relievers, and prescription medications
  • Flashlight: With extra batteries
  • Battery-powered radio: To stay informed
  • Cash (small bills): In case ATMs are not working
  • Whistle: To signal for help
  • Essential documents: Copies of passports, insurance information, IDs, etc. in a waterproof container
  • Cell phone charger: Portable charger is ideal
  • Comfort items: Blanket, hand sanitizer, personal hygiene products, card games

City of Murrieta Legislative Updates

Advocating for the interests of residents and businesses

Throughout each year, the California State Legislature and the United States Congress propose and enact legislation, some of which affect local municipal government. The City of Murrieta recognizes the need for active legislative engagement at the local, state, and federal levels to enhance the interests of Murrieta’s residents and businesses.

At times, it is in the City's best interest to take a position on proposed legislation. To view this year's approved Legislative Platform and all submitted letters of opposition and support, visit the City's website. This page is updated throughout the year as the City takes positions on various pieces of legislation.
