Community Services Department Updates

Master Plan Public Workshops

The City of Murrieta is currently updating its Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which was last updated in 2009, and it is moving forward with its first-ever Trails Master Plan.

These master plans will allow for long-range planning that provides policy guidance for future land use, park and amenity development, infrastructure, services, programming, and events. As a community that values connection, the City is seeking input from its residents. Each master plan will have three in-person workshops.

The public can learn more and contribute input on the vision, goals, and direction for the plan and the City’s future, especially as it relates to multi-use trails, e-bikes, and trail connectivity.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue

Do you know what defensible space is?

Defensible space is the required space between a structure and the wildland area that, under normal conditions, creates a sufficient buffer to slow or halt the spread of wildfire to a structure. It protects the home from igniting due to direct flame impingement and radiant heat.

For more resources and detailed guidance on creating defensible space or scheduling an AB38 inspection click here.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue (MFR) is hosting its 77th annual Firefighter’s BBQ on Saturday, April 13, at Murrieta’s Town Square Park. The Murrieta Firefighter’s BBQ is one of Riverside County’s longest-running events, with the first barbecue held in 1948. As is the tradition, barbecue guests will enjoy a smoked tri-tip lunch, music, a beer and wine garden, a bag-toss tournament, and a vendors’ market. Attendees will also get to cheer on fire explorers from throughout Southern California in the annual Fire Explorers “Muster” Competition. The event is free and open to the public with a nominal fee for the barbecue lunch.
