Despite the sweltering heat, I hope you all made it to our annual Birthday Bash. It was truly a great sight to see our community come together to celebrate our incredible city. Happy 33rd Birthday, Murrieta!
Oh, and have you heard? Trader Joe's has finally opened its doors, and the parking lot has plenty of spaces.

Each year, Murrieta Police Dispatch receives numerous calls for service related to fireworks. Please use the online form to report fireworks to help keep 911 lines open for emergencies.
Want to report fireworks that are actively going off? Report them directly at www.MurrietaCA.gov/Fireworks.
Dispatch will receive the form, and a call for service will be created. This online form will be active from now until July 5 at 6:00 a.m.

Trader Joe's is Open to the Public | |

Trader Joe's held their grand opening on June 28. Dozens of residents came to celebrate.
Inside this neighborhood grocery store, customers can expect outstanding value from the best quality products at the best everyday prices and friendly Crew Members. As a neighborhood grocery store, Trader Joe’s prides itself on hiring locals. Hiring efforts are still underway. In addition, through the company’s longstanding Neighborhood Shares Program, the new Murrieta Trader Joe’s will donate 100% of unsold products to a range of non-profit, community-based organizations seven days a week.

MFR launches Water Watchers Program

Keep Kids Safe with the Water Watcher Program
Murrieta Fire & Rescue's Water Watcher Program can help keep your kids safe in the pool this summer.
When you designate an adult as a Water Watcher, you promise to give your full attention to supervising children in the pool. This means putting away your phone, book, or anything else that could distract you.
Free Water Watcher Lanyards
MFR is offering free Water Watcher lanyards. The lanyard identifies the adult who has agreed to supervise the children in the pool. Stop by and pick one up today!

The City recognizes the need for a place where residents can cool off and enjoy the summer sun. We are partnering with the Vista Murrieta High School to utilize their pool four days a week.

Public Works and Engineering Update | |

CIP 13027 – Murrieta Plaza Turn Pocket
This project consists of constructing a dedicated right-turn pocket into Murrieta Plaza at the intersection of Murrieta Hot Springs Road and Alta Murrieta Drive (adjacent to the Shell Gas Station), which will help alleviate traffic congestion.
The City plans to advertise for bids in the coming weeks and award the construction contract at the 8/20/24 City Council Meeting. Construction is anticipated to start in September. The preliminary estimated cost is $850k.
CIP 13047 – Murrieta Hot Springs Road Pavement Rehabilitation
This project includes pavement rehabilitation and new striping between Whitewood Road and Margarita Road. The City plans to advertise for bids early next month and award the construction contract at the 9/3/24 City Council Meeting. Construction is anticipated to start in late September. The preliminary estimated cost is $1.8M.

Coffee with the City
Connecting over coffee with the City of Murrieta team
Join us for Coffee with the City! Every fourth Tuesday of the month, the City of Murrieta and the Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber of Commerce host "Coffee with the City," a free community event that brings residents together over a cup of Dunkin' coffee to connect with local leadership. Through these meaningful conversations, the community actively contributes to shaping Murrieta's future and strengthening the sense of community. The next Coffee with the City will be:

Murrieta Market Nights
Visit the heart of Murrieta during our evening street markets

Shop, dine, and explore downtown! Murrieta Market Nights happens on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Street closures are in place for vendors and entertainment along Washington Avenue and Juniper Street, attracting hundreds of shoppers to downtown. The night offers an immersive experience, exploring local vendors, artisans, entertainment, and unique food options.
This is an excellent opportunity to explore downtown Murrieta and enjoy the spring weather.
