Board of Supervisors Highlights - November 7
Owen Michael Masry Earns Eagle Scout Rank
Supervisors recognized Owen Michael Masry for earning the rank of Eagle
Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. As a member of Troop 198, Owen earned 27 merit badges and accumulated over 150 combined service hours
while serving in numerous troop leadership roles, including Patrol Leader, Den Chief and Instructor. For his Eagle Scout project, Owen organized and coordinated other scouts, friends and family to beautify and improve the grounds at Allard Elementary School by planning and supervising the construction and installation of outdoor teaching gardens, a memorial bench, and a flower garden at the entrance of the school.
Senior Connection Group Offers Thanks
Members of the township's Senior Connection thanked the board of supervisors for supporting
activities and events for people aged 55+. Rudy Ujhazy, Jim Compomizzi and Pat Trapuzzano sang a song they crafted and spoke briefly about the impact the group has had on their lives. The Senior Connection is a lively, active group that gathers at the Carriage House at Robin Hill every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. To learn more, call 412.262.1703 or visit moonparks.org.
St. Andrew Lutheran Church Donates to Mooncrest Neighborhood Programs
Pastor Larry Mort, church council president Jeff Bussard, and church member Dave Kasper of St. Andrew Lutheran Church attended the meeting to present a check for $1,118 to Mooncrest Neighborhood Programs. Generous members of the congregation donated money in coin bottles that were placed in the church over several weeks. St. Andrew's is a long-time supporter of the Mooncrest literacy program, providing tutors, school supplies and monetary donations.

Property Tax Information
2018 Property Taxes
We are now collecting the 10% penalty amount until December 31, 2018 for the Township of Moon Property taxes and the Moon Area School District property taxes. Please remember, according to Pennsylvania state law, the property owner is responsible for the property tax regardless of whether or not a statement was received.
2018 Additional Assessments
Some property owners received an additional tax bill as a result in an increase in their property assessment. Please note that the face value is due on January 29, 2019. According to Pennsylvania law, the tax office may not accept payments for 2018 taxes after December 31, 2018. Property owners paying after this date must send their payments to the law offices of Weiss, Burkardt and Kramer. Please be advised that, although Weiss, Burkardt and Kramer is the appointed delinquent tax collector for the Township of Moon and the Moon Area School District, payments made for 2018 additional assessments will not be considered late if they are paid on or before January 29, 2019.
Holiday Hours
The property tax office will be closed to observe the following holidays in November:
Veterans Day - Monday, November 12 (observed)
Thanksgiving - Wednesday, November 21 through Friday, November 23
Things to Remember
- Tax office hours are listed at the bottom of your tax statements.
- Postmarked mail is always accepted, but please remember, it must show the postmark on the envelope.
- If you wish to receive a paid receipt, whether it's the individual installment payments or the final summary of all payments, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope. The cost of printing, postage and envelopes prohibits my office from sending these as a courtesy and not all taxpayers request receipts.
- If you are unsure of your property tax payments, please call the office prior to making a possible duplicate payment. We will be glad to check for you.
- If a property owner's mailing address needs updated or changed for whatever reason, please contact me at the Moon Township tax office at 412.299.7446 as well as county treasurer John Weinstein at 412.350.4100, as soon as possible.
- Please visit my website for more information, including office hours, holiday closings, and other useful information.
