September 2023

Dear Residents & Community Members,

October is nearly here, bringing with it plenty of community fun ahead! First up is the official opening of the new Pickleball Courts at Mombasha Park. It's been a pleasure to see the courts bustling with activity these past few weeks as residents enjoy a game or two in their hometown. We believe you'll agree that the courts are a welcome addition to our town as we work to build upon our recreational and community focused activity offerings. From research and planning to project execution, we are grateful for the many Town of Monroe team members who worked diligently to bring this project to fruition. A special thank you to Ann Marie Morris, Mombasha Park Department Head, James "Pat" Patterson, Highway Superintendent, and the entire Town of Monroe Highway Department for their efforts. We hope you'll be able to join us this Sunday, October 1st for the ribbon cutting ceremony! Please see below for additional information. Even if you cannot attend the ceremony, we hope you'll take the time to visit Mombasha Park soon and check out the courts!

Be sure to save the date for our Community Trunk or Treat on October 21st as well as the return of our Food Truck Festival on October 28th. Both events have grown in popularity in recent years and continue to be a favorite amongst our residents.

Lastly, as we've mentioned before, the Orange County Tourism & Film website continues to be a great resource for finding out about local happenings. There is really so much to do and see in this area that we are blessed to live and work in. If you haven't already done so, consider subscribing to their updates at https://orangetourism.org/.

All the best,

Tony Cardone

On September 10th, friends, family, neighbors and local officials gathered to celebrate Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton and his dedicated service to the residents of Warwick for the past 21 years. Supervisor Sweeton is not seeking reelection and will retire at the end of the year.

We thank Mike for his many years of unwavering friendship to the Town of Monroe and extend our best wishes on his upcoming retirement.

Supervisor Sweeton was recognized by the Town of Monroe for "Making An Impact" through his dedicated years of service to the Town of Warwick and involvement in various community organizations throughout his career. Town of Monroe and Village of Woodbury Team Up In Recent Repaving of Larkin Drive

Town of Monroe Highway Superintendent James "Pat" Patterson and Village of Woodbury Streets Superintendent Rob Weyant and their teams recently worked together to complete the repaving of a portion of Larkin Drive from the area of BJ's Wholesale Club to Mercedes Way. To minimize traffic flow disruption to residents and community members, a majority of the project was completed during the overnight hours. We always appreciate the opportunity to work with our neighboring municipalities for the benefit of our taxpayers.
