Trail Tuesdays
Every Tuesday at 10 am, we will gather at a different Boothbay Region Land Trust trailhead for a leisurely 1-2 mile hike, allowing time to soak in the scenery and marvel at nature along the way. Led by a naturalist, our walks will include occasional stops to share fascinating insights into the preserve’s ecology including the diverse plant and animal life. No need to worry about advanced registration—simply lace up your sturdy shoes, pack some water, and meet us at the parking lot kiosk.

Embark on an easygoing stroll through the picturesque landscape, dotted with engaging activities and games designed to ignite curiosity and foster a deeper connection with the natural world. Each session unveils a new natural theme, delving into the local ecology and embracing the seasonal changes of the Boothbay region. From wildlife encounters to plant identification, there’s always something fascinating to learn!

Yoga on the Deck at Oak Point Farm
Saturdays starting
8:30 - 9:30 am
Immerse your senses in the natural world and connect with your breath in this all-level hatha flow class on the farmhouse deck at BRLT’s Oak Point Farm. Begin your day with intention and reconnect with your body through mindful movement & focus on your breath while surrounded by the scenic beauty of a nature preserve. We will gently warm up our bodies in the morning air, move through basic standing yoga postures, do some strength-building, and stretch our muscles.
Class is open to all levels and suitable for beginners. Please bring your yoga mat or a towel. Donations are welcome and registration is not required.

FIRST FRIDAY ART TOUR
July 5th, 4:00 - 7:pm
A self-guided walking (or driving) tour of the art galleries in Boothbay Harbor. …led by an art lover’s desire to exercise their imagination. Paintings … sculpture … mixed media … assemblage art … photography … pottery … weaving … fiber art.
Participating galleries feature new work, hold open houses with refreshments, and studio tours, and often offer live demonstrations and/or music!
Go ahead – take a walk – on the creative side!
Look for the balloons out front of the galleries and signs for the participants on the first Friday of June – October!

Henry Isaacs' unique ability is to create gorgeous, sherbet-colored paintings that bring tremendous joy to his viewers. This summer's show finds Henry ranging up and down Maine's peninsulas to paint the harbors and coves that catch his eye.

Lynne & John continue to paint and enjoy the creative process and beauty of Maine. They offer the intention of love, light, and peace through their work. Take a visual tour of their landscapes, seascapes, figurative, still life, abstract, and visionary imagery. Their inspiration is drawn from Maine which is home and from their travels across America and Europe.

Registration is open for Boothbay Region Historical Society’s second Summer Speaker Series talk, “The Rice Brothers of East Boothbay” with Jon Dunsford on Thursday, July 11 at 4:30 p.m.
Local ship modeler Jon Dunsford has studied the history of the well-known Rice Brothers Shipyard. With direct support from Robert Rice, grandson of one of the founding brothers, Jon will tell its story.

Join Us for Café Sci --Bigelow Laboratory’s popular summer event series returns for four Tuesdays, July 16 to Aug. 6, to kick off our 50th anniversary celebrations. We hope to see you there!
This summer, Café Sci will take place on Tuesdays at 5 p.m. at The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor from July 16 - August 6. There is no virtual option this year, but recordings will be available shortly after each talk on our YouTube channel.

Southport Island Musicfest 2024 – Spencer Albee

Spencer Albee is a Portland-based, nationally acclaimed singer, songwriter and producer. Since 1995, he has toured internationally, signed multiple recording and publishing deals and worked with artists ranging from David Bowie to De La Soul. Ocean On Tap Speaker Series @ Footbridge Brewery

This month’s speaker is Dr. Rebekah Shunmugapandi of the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences. She will be speaking about how oceanographers use satellites in space to remotely sense colors in the ocean which can tell us about marine food webs. Ocean on Tap is an informal, ocean-centric speaker series organized by researchers from the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences and hosted by Footbridge Brewery in Boothbay Harbor.
Our goal is to bring people of the community together over the fascinating world of the ocean. At these events, speakers will share about their corner of expertise in the ocean and attendees are encouraged to ask questions.

TCyanotype Printing Workshop

We had SO much fun in this class last summer and can’t wait to do it again!
Students will make and take home 2 greeting cards and 1 canvas tote bag. We will be using plants, seaweed, shells, and other found materials to create bold relief images that resemble an x-ray!
Cyanotype is a 180 year old photographic printing process that produces prints in a distinctive indigo blue....No darkroom is needed, instead it uses the power of the sun.
Kids accompanied by an adult are welcome!
This class will be taught by Sarah Spencer in The Barn.
The Southport General Store will be open for refreshments! Students will receive a coupon for 10% off their food order!

Join forager and wild food cook, Rachel Alexandrou for an educational walk on how to safely identify and cook with wild edible plants. The walk will last 2 hours and will end in a foraged tasting. Bring a notebook and writing utensil, sturdy shoes, and a water bottle. This walk is great for beginners to foraging, or plant lovers interested in learning about how to incorporate wild plants in the kitchen. Rachel will provide wild refreshments at the end of class and give a cooking demo with some of the gathered plants.
