This September is going to be exciting! The Dance Party on Friday, September 20 is shaping up to be a grand celebration—not only honoring Jim Gabbert, our Sausalito Spirit of Marin Award winner, but also showcasing the resilience of our small but mighty business community. In addition to unveiling our Business Award Winners, this event will serve as a fundraiser for both the Chamber and the Sausalito On The Waterfront Foundation, which organizes the Lighted Boat Parade and Fireworks in December. This event is expected to sell out, so be sure to book your tickets today!
September will culminate in San Rafael with the Spirit of Marin Awards, where Jim Gabbert will be officially recognized as the Sausalito recipient. This event consistently sells out, so secure your tickets now.
Several community events are also scheduled for September, including the return of the Center for the Arts’ Second Annual Paint Sausalito, Sausalito Chili Cook-off, a Sausalito Players performance, the Sausalito Sister Cities Soiree, and the Sausalito Historical Society Making History Awards (details below).
Lastly, we’d like to congratulate our Chamber President and CEO, Daryl Niemerow, on her one-year anniversary. Daryl was drawn to Sausalito as a child while visiting her aunt's store, enchanted by the atmosphere, the candy shops, and the unique finds along Bridgeway and Caledonia Street. Reflecting on her connection to Sausalito, she says, “Sausalito happens to many of us—some visit and come back, some choose to live here, some build businesses, dock their boats here, or meet friends for a meal — but when it happens, it’s undeniable.” The Marin IJ recently published a wonderful article on her, and we’re excited to share it with you. Be sure to congratulate her on this milestone when you see her around town. She’s done an amazing job reconnecting the facets of our community and building a stronger organization that we’re all proud of.
