Rideshare Month Winners Announced


During the month of November, Ride Together Pierce encouraged folks to share the ride! Overall, on our trip calendar, 161 participants logged 4,097 rideshare trips and reduced 82,467 drive-alone miles. That’s more than three times around the globe!


Folks who logged more than 10 rideshare trips (carpool, vanpool, bus, train, light rail) on our trip calendar during the month of November were entered to win prizes.

Downtown: On The Go! News and Events

Light Up Bike Ride on Thursday, Jan. 4


Light up your bike and ride to see the sights! Hosted by Downtown: On the Go! (DOTG), celebrate the light and the new year with a free, family-friendly, approximately 2-mile bike ride on Thursday Jan. 4, 2024. Meet at the plaza at 1201 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma at 6 p.m. to decorate your bike with lights and reflectors. Free materials available while supplies last, zip ties and tape provided. Snacks and hot drinks will be provided. The ride will leave around 6:30 p.m.


Helmets are required. There will be some hills, which will be taken slowly.


Arrive by bike, or one of several Pierce Transit or Sound Transit routes.

2024 Friday Forums Return


Hosted by DOTG, the Friday Forums bring together local leaders, experts, and the community to talk about transportation issues facing Tacoma and our region. In this year's forums, DOTG is exploring what it means to build strong communities, focusing in on health equity, youth mobility, and housing density. These forums take place at noon and will be available over Zoom and in-person at UW-Tacoma. This years' forums are:

  1. Friday, Jan. 26, 2024: "Strong Communities, Healthy Communities"
  2. Friday, Feb. 23, 2024: "New Kids on the Bus: Youth Mobility in Tacoma"
  3. Friday, Mar. 22, 2024: "Following the Numbers: Affordable Housing & Density"

Pierce Transit News and Events

Pierce Transit is Launching a New App for the Runner Service


Pierce Transit Runner is an on-demand ride service that offers a quick, car-free transportation solution, typically in areas with limited transit options. There are five Runner zones serving Pierce County, providing connections to Ruston and along Ruston Way, the Tideflats, JBLM, the Spanaway/Parkland/Midland area and Puyallup. 


The new, dedicated Runner app is now available in the Puyallup zone, and will roll out to the Spanaway, Ruston, and Tideflats zones starting on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.


Riders can download the new app in the Apple Store of Google Play.

South Tacoma Sounder Station

Sidewalk and Bike Plans


Sound Transit will be improving walking, biking and transit access to the South Tacoma Sounder Station and nearby destinations. Possible improvements include filling in missing sidewalks and curb ramps, adding bike lanes or paths, updating bus stops, and more. 


The public is invited to review and comment on their plans in-person or online:
