8th St/Highway 33 Reconstruction

In West Baraboo, the contractors have finished laying the asphalt. They also have been working on pouring concrete around the manholes, standing new street light poles, and painting the new pavement markings. The estimated opening day for West Baraboo is June 21st.

Construction has started in our 3rd phase segment from Jefferson St to Elizabeth St. A-1 Excavating has been working on the underground work which includes sanitary sewer and storm sewer. A reminder that Wheeler, Tuttle, Camp, and Elizabeth Streets are closed until mid to late August.

Work on the segment from the eastern driveway of Jimmy John’s/Domino’s to West Street started this morning. A-1 Excavating will need to go to West Street as this is the lower end of the sanitary sewer. Highway 33 will be completely closed at Domino’s through West Street. In the beginning Draper, Summit, and West Streets will be closed. Park, Wood, and Center Streets will be open for cross traffic.

The 3rd phase section (in orange) from the eastern limits of Jimmy Johns/Domino's through Park St will be completed before school reopens in the fall.

The 4th segment (in green) from the eastern limits of Park St - the eastern limits of Broadway St is still expected to be completed in November.

Highway 33 is still closed to thru traffic. The official detour will stay the same for Thru Traffic which is I90/94 (exit 106) to USH 12 (Lake Delton - Exit 92) to Highway 33.

Local Traffic is encouraged to use the posted local detour route from County Highway X to County Highway W to State Highway 113 to South Blvd. to State Highway 136. The estimated completion date for the balance of this project (Lincoln Avenue to Mulberry Street) is mid-November 2024. We Thank You for your renewed patience and indulgence as progress continues on Highway 33!

For questions or concerns please contact Tadd Owens, Project Manager, at 608-617-5460.

Please Remember that ALL LOCAL BUSINESSES are still Open!

2024 monthly Brush Collection: We start on Monday’s garbage route and complete the entire route before moving to Tuesdays route. The time to move from one garbage route to the next varies depending how much brush is out. It could take as little as part of a day or it could take several days.

All brush must be placed for pickup by 7:00 a.m. the Monday of the scheduled collection week to be guaranteed collection. 2024 Brush Collection weeks are July 22nd, August 26th, September 23rd, and October 21st.

Remember, the City will NOT collect brush that was placed by a contractor. Contractors are responsible for the disposal of tree waste that they generate on their own terms, and may not dispose of customer materials at the City of Baraboo Brush Drop-off Site.

Monthly brush pickup is intended for typical residential yard cleanup and is not intended as a lot clearing or tree removal service. The City cannot collect lumber, root balls, stumps, or material in excess of 6” in diameter. Residents placing brush for collection must neatly stack cut ends facing the same direction, keep brush pile free of non-brush materials, and keep a minimum of 5’ away from trees, signs, hydrants, utility poles, vehicles, and buildings.
