8th St/Highway 33 Reconstruction

A lot of work has been done over the last few weeks. The segment between Jefferson St and Elizabeth St is finally complete. This means that you can drive all the way from County Road T (Taft Ave) to East Street on Highway 33! At the stoplights you will have to make a left or a right turn for there are barricades blocking the west side of the intersection of Highway 33 and East St (County Rd A). Similar to how it was before just on the other side. We barricaded the road like this so that we don't have semis driving down to the construction area and realizing that there's no way for them to get through. It's also very hard for them to turn around on streets that are so close to downtown because of all of the vehicles that are parked on the side streets. Oak and Ash Streets will still be open for cross traffic like Barker and Warren Streets were.

On Monday August 12th our last and final segment was started. Which means that right now from Domino's all the way to Broadway St is closed. They will continue to have Summit Street Open for cross traffic.

  • The segment between Domino's and Park Street is still estimated to be completed no later then August 29th.

  • Our last segment from Summit St to Broadway St is still Estimated to be completed mid November.

Highway 33 is still closed to thru traffic. The official detour will stay the same for Thru Traffic which is I90/94 (exit 106) to USH 12 (Lake Delton - Exit 92) to Highway 33.

Local Traffic is encouraged to use the posted local detour route from County Highway X to County Highway W to State Highway 113 to South Blvd. to State Highway 136. The estimated completion date for the balance of this project (Lincoln Avenue to Mulberry Street) is mid-November 2024. We Thank You for your renewed patience and indulgence as progress continues on Highway 33!

For questions or concerns please contact Tadd Owens, Project Manager, at 608-617-5460.

Please Remember that ALL LOCAL BUSINESSES are still Open!

2024 CURBSIDE BRUSH COLLECTION

2024 monthly Brush Collection: We start on Monday’s garbage route and complete the entire route before moving to Tuesday's route. The time to move from one garbage route to the next varies depending how much brush is out. It could take as little as part of a day or it could take several days.

All brush must be placed for pickup by 7:00 a.m. the Monday of the scheduled collection week to be guaranteed collection. 2024 Brush Collection weeks are August 26th, September 23rd, and October 21st.

Remember, the City will NOT collect brush that was placed by a contractor. Contractors are responsible for the disposal of tree waste that they generate on their own terms, and may not dispose of customer materials at the City of Baraboo Brush Drop-off Site.

Monthly brush pickup is intended for typical residential yard cleanup and is not intended as a lot clearing or tree removal service. The City cannot collect lumber, root balls, stumps, or material in excess of 6” in diameter. Residents placing brush for collection must neatly stack cut ends facing the same direction, keep brush pile free of non-brush materials, and keep a minimum of 5’ away from trees, signs, hydrants, utility poles, vehicles, and buildings.
