Greetings! How do you like to learn about cultures outside of what you are familiar with? Do you have a favorite topic or subject that you like to learn about at your library?

For me, I often read books about travel, history, geography, and cultures that help me better understand the larger world around us! I loved to read National Geographic magazines growing up to see the unique elements of people, animals, cultural traditions, and landscape that were much different from my experiences in the SF Bay Area. Magazines from a used book sale were great for me to make collages. I still read books and newspapers to be aware of what is going on around the world - but I'm still looking through my own perspective. That's where I think fiction books, biographies, and other narratives help us understand other perspectives!

This Saturday we have a bilingual program for ages 0-5, but you don't have to know Spanish to attend. I recommend that we immerse our youth into new cultures and experiences early. What kind of cultural events would you like to see at your Monterey Public Library? How can we better serve our community here and celebrate! Let me know.

Warmly~

Brian

HOW DID THOSE SLUGS GET INTO MY HOUSE?

Well it could have been through your potted plants, trash, or even left over food that attracted these slow moving shell-less gastropods. Or, it could be the adorable slug finger puppets the kids are making this month at Sewing with Julia. Either way, stay watchful for the thousands of microscopic teeth both snails and slugs possess.
