Greetings!

What's with all the changes inside the Children's area of the library? You may have noticed new chairs & tables, or the computers there. Funding for MPL My Place to Learn was from the California State Library Early Learning Hub grant and generous donations through MC Gives. Recently we added a boat shaped table that added Early Learning computers with pre-loaded games - not internet stations - and a computer station that allows caregivers to work with a small child. An unused office is being turned into a quiet sensory space or nursing space. We still have more to do! In the next few weeks we will be updating our children's area shelving to be more organized, colorful, and flexible. We want the kids to be drawn to the bookshelves and provide books that spark creativity and independent thought. The goal is to make the space inviting for children, parents, and caregivers but also provide spaces to learn through active learning. I love to see kids enjoying these spaces, and finding ways to inspire new library joy. Just think when you walk around town or inside buildings: how is this space made or not made for children to access?

What else would you like to see in your library in the next 3 years? Let us know by taking our strategic plan survey! We are interested in hearing what we do great, and what we do...well, not so great.

Warmly~
Brian
