Neighborhood News

Gardeners

From Mary Harp

The Gardeners will meet on Tuesday, March 14 at 8:30 a.m at The Salad Bar Park (on EE trail, down from the Pickleball Court).  Bring tools for clean up, pruning and weeding at the Park. New gardeners are always welcome.

Book Club

The EE Book Club's next meeting will be Thursday, April 13, 11 am, at the Ramada. The book for April is Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. Linda Sielken will lead the discussion. The book for May will be The Governor's Wife by Mark Gimenez (disussion leader Judy Hayes).

Just as an FYi, if you weren't able to get last month's book, Stoicism for Inner Peace by Eizelganger, you can access a video on YouTube at this link which will give you an overview on the topic.

EE Ramada Sale

It looked like the Patio/Ramada sale was well attended last weekend. Putting on this sale is a huge amount of work. Thanks to the Enhancement Team and the "Male Auxiliary" who helped out. We'll have more info about the sales results in a future MMM.

2023 Special Assessment Billing

From Dean Lockwood, HOA Board Treasurer

All residents should have received their 2023 Trash Special Assessment bills. Thanks to EE residents who have already paid.  The special assessment of $180 is due on April 1, 2023. You can drop your payment off at the Ramada in the black Suggestion Box, or you can mail it in the envelope provided with the assessment notice. Please call Dean Lockwood at 612-240-0945 with questions.

Unsung EE Heros

Lyle Huculak

Nominated by Gloria Creagh

Lyle Huculak is a Canadian snowbird. Last spring, his neighbor across the street was moving and asked Lyle if he would like to take over his job at the Ramada. He said he would and has provided us with a warm Ramada since then.

Lyle supports the propane heaters by lighting them in advance of events at the Ramada, including Thirsty Thursday, Hospitality and Enhancement meetings, special events, and private parties. Lyle also rearranges tables and pulls the blinds. He makes sure the propane tanks are filled, which Dean Lockwood helps with. After all the events, Lyle returns to the Ramada to raise the blinds and turn off all the heaters. Lyle is currently working on quotes to upgrade the system.

Lyle also spends his free time playing pickleball, baseball with the Baja League, and golfing. Thanks so much for all you do, Lyle!

Unsung EE Heros

Esperanza Estates is fortunate to have volunteers who keep our neighborhood beautiful, comfortable, friendly, and efficient. Many of these folks work behind the scenes, and most of us don't know about their important contributions. Who do you know in EE who is quietly volunteering and contributing to our neighborhood? We'd like to recognize and applaud their work. Please let us know about their work...Judy Hayes jkhayes70@gmail.com and John Nesavich, jnesavich@gmail.com.

Caring Connections

Thanks to Hugh Gates

From Tom Cooke

Kudos to Hugh Gates for his patriotic work and support for Ukraine done on my lamp post. You will see a number of these around EE.

Vern and Maridell Wise

From Donna Shay

Former Esperanza Estates residents, Vern and Maridell Wise, are working through some health issues. Maridell has been in the hospital for the last two weeks. They appreciate hearing from their EE friends, and your thoughts and prayers are welcome. Cards can be sent to them at 992 W Placita Agradable, Green Valley AZ 85614.

Food Collection Shelf

From Sandy LaVoi

We collect non-perishable unopened food at the Ramada and deliver it to the Food Bank. Thank you for your continued donations for the less fortunate.

Aluminum Can Pull Tabs

This week we learned a little about the aluminum can pull tabs collection in the Ramada. Apparently a former EE resident was collecting the pull tabs and was donating them to an under privileged resident in Green Valley. After the EE resident moved away, no one has taken over managing them. Unfortunately, we no longer have a connection to the person who was receiving the pull tabs.

We are in the process of researching charities that can benefit from pull tabs donations, and who accepts the donations in Green Valley. We'll update you with more details in a future MMM.

Funny Bone

Thanks John Nesavich

1. I thought growing old would take a lot longer and isn't it weird it be the same age as old people.
2. If I am ever on life support unplug me and plug me back in and see if that works.
3. You know you are getting old when friends with benefits means having someone who can drive at night
4. I see people zip lining and mountain climbing and here I am feeling good about myself because I got a leg through my underwear without falling over.

Thanks Kevin Welsh
