Pickleball Party

The Pickleball folks gathered for a potluck on Sunday to celebrate the pickleball season. Along with lots of delicious food and pickleball stories, the group recognized Greg Gramstad for the outstanding work he has done as Pickleball Courtmaster for the last several years. Donna Smith memorialized the event with "Ode to Pickleball." Thanks to all who make pickleball a popular activity in Esperanza Estates.

Good To Know

What's Wrong With My Fruit Tree?

From Lonnie Borgmann

I was very worried about my grapefruit tree as all the leaves were falling off. My fruit was half size from the bottom of the tree. I took a branch from the top of the tree to the County Extension Office and they told me my problem. It wasn’t a disease, dry, or in need of fertilizer. It was HAIL damage along with heavy frost. I wasn’t here for the big storm that took out lot of skylights and caused roof damage. The branch I took them showed very small new growth, but it was a sign the branch was good. The black marks on the fruit was hail hitting the fruit.

I think about this and realize they were exactly correct. The bottom of my tree is great and fruit was large. Now, I see all new leaves at the top. I watched other owners cleaning up leaves and wanted to tell them why. Just look at top of tree, no leaves but the tree is okay. We all worried about our roofs but forgot about the trees. Might be an interesting read for our neighbors.
