THE CHAMBER OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC NEXT WEEK

Our office will be closed the week of September 19-23 as we are getting some renovations done to the inside of the building. All meetings and events taking place inside the building will be moved or rescheduled (unless you have been notified otherwise). Jeannette will be on vacation, but our other staff will be working from home these days.

11 breweries and distilleries to highlight locally crafted offerings through app, deals, prizes by Naturally McHenry County


What: A new partnership initiative between Naturally McHenry County and the county’s 11 craft breweries and distilleries launches Thursday, Sept. 1. The Craft Beverage Trail includes nine craft breweries and taprooms as well as the two distilleries that call McHenry County home. Several locations are offering special discounts to those who check-in via the McHenry County Craft Beverage Trail in the Challenges portion of the free, Naturally McHenry County app.


Featured are: Rush Creek Distilling, Harvard; McHenry Brewing Co., McHenry; Kishwaukee Brewing Co.Holzlager Brewing Co., and ShadowView Brewing, all of Woodstock; Crystal Lake Brewing, Crystal Lake; Spirit Water Brewery and Distillery and Cary Ale House & Brewing Co., both of Cary; Scorched Earth Brewing Co., Algonquin; and Sew Hop’d Brewery & Taproom as well as More Brewing Co., both of Huntley.


Those who visit all and complete a coded check-in process will receive a specially designed T-shirt and sticker. There is no deadline for completion. It’s hoped those who embark on the trail will consider making a day of it in Harvard, Woodstock, Crystal Lake, Cary or Huntley, visiting other unique shops, restaurants and points of interest along the way, too.

Don't miss the disability job fair and employer workshop


What: Once again, the McHenry County Workforce Network is teaming up with McHenry County College and the State of Illinois to host two events to connect workers with disabilities with employers looking to hire.

 

The first is a September 28 workshop for employers, which will cover the benefits of hiring workers with disabilities, as well as state and local incentives and resources. The second is an October 5 disability job fair for people with disabilities to meet employers ready to hire.

 

Employers can click here to register for the workshop, and click here to be included at the job fair. These will come up before you know it, so sign up soon! Job seekers do not have to register to attend the job fair.

Call for Artists by Pioneer Center for Human Services


What: 4th Annual Empty Bowls Silent Art Auction benefiting McHenry County PADS Homeless Shelter. Through this event we hope to increase awareness of homelessness services in McHenry County, collaborate professionally with the fine arts community and continue the conversations post event through visual creations on the issue.


Pioneer is currently seeking 25-30 pieces of art (all media accepted: sculpture, mixed media, painting, photography, etc.). A piece can be done at the discretion of the artist and how they depict homelessness through themes such as of hope, resiliency, support, help and encouragement. We are asking you to participate in this year’s Empty Bowls Art Auction. Please consider donating your artwork to Pioneer Center, who will auction it off in an exclusive, one afternoon only gallery.

What: Marine Corps Ball Corporate Sponsorship. Our 247th Anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Ball is being developed as annual community event.

ALCA's Taproom Takeover by Alexander Leigh Center for Autism


What: The Alexander Leigh Center for Autism is excited to partner with Scorched Earth Brewing Co. for a Taproom Takeover on Sunday, September 18th!
