Miss McHenry Scholarship Pageant is Back!

What: Why should your child / employee (ages 17-21 - McHenry resident) apply for Miss McHenry? We invite McHenry to join us in our mission to support, inspire, and build confidence in these young ladies. Miss McHenry is not a beauty pageant. From speeches to interview skills, this pageant is dedicated to each young lady's future endeavors, providing the tools for her to become her best self. We have some amazing guest speakers this year that we can't wait to share with you!

The winner will get to represent McHenry at the Miss McHenry County Pageant over the Summer for more scholarship opportunities.

Applications due April 12th 2024. Event will take place June 3rd 2024 at The Vixen 1208 N Green St McHenry, IL 60050

We are also looking for sponsors and individuals looking to donate their talents and time to helping us bring this amazing event back to life, after a five-year hiatus.

RIVERSIDE ANIMAL CLINIC AND HOLISTIC CENTER TO HOST PUPPY AND DOG TRAINING CLASSES WITH NEW CHAMBER MEMBER, BIG SKY DOG TRAINING.

What: Get A Well-Behaved Companion Dog

Puppy and dog owners in McHenry and surrounding counties now have a seasoned dog trainer with over 30 years of experience coming to town. Beginning Saturday, April 13th, 2024, we will kick off of a set of three classes: Puppy, Basic, and Intermediate Classes will be on Saturday mornings and Thursday late afternoons. Classes will be held at Riverside Animal Clinic and Holistic Center at 1112 Front St., McHenry, IL 60050.

Classes will be taught by NEW CHAMBER BUSINESS, renowned reward-based obedience dog trainer Montana C. Hayes. Hayes distinguishes herself by refusing to train with aversive techniques by using shock collars and prong collars. She uses positive training methods such as hand signals, soft voice commands with a marker word. She helps owners work on obedience commands like recall, sit, down, stay, place etc., and solve problems like barking, housetraining, leash pulling, jumping and many other nuisance problems. She developed a Puppy Head-Start Program over 20 years ago, and owners love it as a jump start for young pups. She also teaches well-balanced obedience Basic and Intermediate classes.
