Non-Profit Network - Sharing Knowledge & Building Community Together

At the Lafayette Chamber Non-Profit Network, we believe that non-profit organizations play an essential role in building and sustaining thriving communities. Our mission is to foster collaboration, share expertise, and promote best practices among non-profit professionals and volunteers in the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and beyond. Whether you're a seasoned executive or a newcomer to the non-profit sector, we're here to provide you with the resources, connections, and support you need to make a positive impact in the world.

On August 8 we were joined by Kim Castaneda, CFRE, VP of Development & Communications at the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano, for a presentation on Creating Personalized Donor Experiences: How to Tailor Your Approach to Different Donor Segments. Personalized donor experiences involve tailoring communication and engagement strategies to meet the unique needs and preferences of different donor segments. This approach increases donor satisfaction and loyalty.

Thank you Kim for the insightful presentation! We would also like to thank Stephanie Reilly from Lafayette Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for hosting us!!

White Pony Express Ribbon Cutting

New Headquarters for White Pony Express!

WPE—the food recovery organization serving Contra Costa County—recently moved to new headquarters. To help celebrate this exciting chapter, WPE would like to invite you to join them for the ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 23rd at 3:30pm. The event will be held at their new location: 2470 Bates Avenue in Concord, CA.

"Our new location includes features that enhance and enlarge WPE’s food recovery operation. Notably, it offers five times our current refrigeration and freezer capacity, including racks and forklift access through rolling doors. The facility also provides a more efficient, safe, and expanded space for our team to receive and process fresh, nutritious food for immediate delivery. You can read more about our move in an article recently published in the East Bay Times.

"Demand for WPE’s fresh food deliveries has grown exponentially. Today we are one of the most active food recovery organizations in the State and this year we launched the statewide CA Food Recovery Coalition. WPE provides healthy food to 98 community-based organizations; rescues food from 75 grocers, distributors, farmers, and restaurants; deploys 700 volunteers; and generates thousands of hours of service among corporate community partners. We have adapted to our community's needs and now serve over 125,000 individuals each year, while significantly contributing to the elimination of food waste and harmful GHG emissions. All of this is done free of charge. If you are interested in learning more or about volunteering, please visit our website: www.whiteponyexpress.org."

What is a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan and How to be Compliant?

by SCORE Presenters Wednesday, August 14 | 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM

SB 553 was signed by Governor Newsom in September 2023 mandating that nearly every employer in California create and implement a workplace violence prevention plan by July 1, 2024. Many small businesses lack the experience and resources to create and implement a workplace violence prevention plan. This seminar will answer these critical questions every business owner needs to know to comply with SB 553:

·     What is workplace violence?

·     Which business are required to have a workplace violence prevention plan?

·     What is a workplace violence risk assessment?

·     What is a workplace violence prevention plan?

·     What are the training requirements?

·     What is a workplace violence incident log, and what is required to be recorded?
