Grading Policy for Fall 2020, Spring 2021, and Summer I 2021
UAM Students, in an effort to lessen the impact of COVID-19 on your semester, the academic deans, assembly chair, and executive council have collaborated to create a grading policy that is fair and equitable for the fall 2020 semester and the remainder of the 20-21 Academic Year. Please take some time to read through this new policy because it may help you make decisions regarding your grades and future class schedules. Also, please watch for more important upcoming announcements. The deadlines for submitting grade change requests for spring 2021 and summer I 2021 will be announced on a later date.

Undergraduate Student Grade Options
All undergraduate students will initially be assigned a letter grade from instructors for their classes. After official grades are posted, you may request to have your fall 2020 grades changed according to the following rules:

·         Students must request the grade change after final grades are posted but before March 1, 2021. Students graduating at the end of fall 2020 must request the change by January 4, 2021.

·         Undergraduate students who receive a “C” in a course can request that the letter grade be replaced with a “Credit or CR”. Students do not have to choose the “CR” option for all of their classes in order to apply this policy. Requests are allowed on a course-by-course basis. A “CR” will receive credit but will not count in the GPA.

·         Undergraduate students who receive a “D” in a course can request that the letter grade be replaced with a “Credit or CR” for courses in which a “D” will allow progression (programmatic or curricular). Students should consult their academic advisor or dean for guidance.

·         Undergraduate students who receive a “D” in a course that is ineligible for “CR” conversion may apply for the “D” to become a “Withdrew or W”.

·         Undergraduate students who receive an “F” in a course may apply for the “F” to become a “Withdrew or W”.

Students in undergraduate programs with specific grade requirements should consult their academic advisor or dean of their respective programs prior to requesting a grade change.

GPA and Academic Standing
Courses in which a “CR” is earned will not count in the GPA calculation but will still be recognized on the transcript and count toward graduation hours where applicable. Academic standing will only be processed for students who improve their standing.
Chancellor's and Dean's List for Spring 2020
Students who meet the hour requirement and GPA requirement designated by the current policies will be recognized. The full policies appear on page 46 of the 2020-2021 UAM Catalog. Students who wish to be recognized in a formal release will need to have all grade change requests submitted by January 4, 2021. Students who do not meet the January 4th deadline will be recognized on an individual basis as the applications are processed.
