Message from the President
By: Rick Haberlin
Dear M&S Division Members,

As the weather warms up this Spring, I’ve been reflecting on our division successes over the past year and look forward to a great Annual Conference in Montreal. The conference is a great opportunity to reconnect with friends and colleagues, and to make new connections as well. Spring is also a time of transition as we introduce our new M&S Board members and I transition my duties to our President-Elect, Shima Mohebbi.

The division continues to grow, and we rely on our members to advertise the benefits of membership. Please continue to connect with your colleagues and introduce them to our vibrant community - anyone interested in M&S is welcome to join. You can also follow the M&S Division on LinkedIn, which is a great way to communicate with the Board and to network with other like-minded modelers. Find our group here

We have 70 presentations and 32 papers scheduled for presentation that will be organized into ~15 sessions in areas such as:

  • Methodological advances
  • Simulation applications
  • Digital twins
  • Modeling in decision support system
  • Human factors and human-computer interaction

The M&S Division is also hosting a Town Hall and a special session on Digital Twins. At the Town Hall we will install the new President and President-Elect, introduce new board members, present awards, discuss survey results, and have a discussion about the future of our community. Keep a close eye on the main schedule for these two events.
M&S Division Presidential Transition
It’s been an eventful year as President of the IISE M&S Division. At the Annual Conference, my term will officially end, and Shima Mohebbi will take the reins. She will have a great team to support her, with several returning members, four new members, and David Claudio as President-Elect. My sincere thanks go out to the entire 2023-24 M&S Board of Directors for their time and effort to keep our community flourishing.
M&S Division Member Survey
We are still collecting input from our members. Please take a few minutes to participate in this brief survey. Your answers will allow the board to tailor future podcasts, member spotlights, and panels content.
