Updates from Brad Kulp, Mission Central's Operations Manager
This week we sat down with Brad, Mission Central's new(ish) Operations Manager. Brad has been with the Mission Central staff team for about four months.
Why do you work at Mission Central?
The mission of 'connecting God's resources with human need' resonated with me. I loved getting the chance to see how things come in and go out so Mission Central seemed like a perfect fit for me. I have always been "meant to serve," and that is what Mission Central does.
What is your favorite 'God Moment' that you have witnessed here?
I am fortunate that I get to witness a lot of 'God Moments' in the warehouse. My favorite is probably when we were asked for toothpaste for Haiti but didn't have enough. The next day we received over 5,000 units of toothpaste and sanitation supplies. It is amazing when we are able to fulfill a need like that.
Why is your work important?
The coordination that I do is really critical. As things come in, I ensure that they go out to the correct place and as immediately as possible to someone that might need them. Nothing does any good sitting in our warehouse so my job is critical to our mission.
What is one new initiative that you have started since beginning at Mission Central?
I have been working on process improvements to ensure that as things come in, we have a plan for where they will go. We now have a monthly email list that goes out to over 1,500 partners, churches, schools and other nonprofits. These are items that we have in the warehouse that others might need. (If you are a nonprofit, school or church that would like to be added, please email me at bkulp@missioncentral.org.)
Why should others support Mission Central?
The more we are supported here at Mission Central, the more people we can support whether that support comes materially, through volunteering or financially. The other piece is what you consider 'trash' or no longer valuable might be gold to someone else in another country.
Thanks, Brad!
