Should tax payers (Nebraskans) pay for in vitro?
Like all things in life, this comes down to a moral question. The answer, however, is not explicitly given in scripture and thus needs to be looked at on many levels. For instance, one of God's first commandments is in Genesis 1:28 "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it". This is possible because He created male and female as professed in Genesis 1:27. We know God commanded Adam and Eve to procreate as male and female. He gave a similar command to Noah and his family.
Psalm 139:13 and 15 tells us it's through God we are created. "For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb". "My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth." Only God know the "secret place". Science has unveiled many wonderous thing about God's creation, however, there is so much we know nothing about.
Jeremiah 1:5 and Psalm 139:16 show us life begins at conception. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations". "Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
Genesis 2:24 and Matthew 19 highlight the importance of marriage and family. "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh". Jesus reiterated this point and much more in Matthew 19.
