(SLTA)- From September 2-6 2024, Saint Lucia participated in the State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) 2024 at the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa, Grand Cayman. This year’s theme, “Caribbean Tourism: Fueling our Lifeblood,” underscored the vital role tourism plays in the region.
The delegation included Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Minister for Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture, and Information. He is joined by key figures from the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, including Anya Whitfield, Officer in Charge / Chief Financial Officer; Dexter Percil, Head of Marketing; and Richard Moss, Director of Global Sales. Saint Lucia’s Junior Minister of Tourism, Iara Ernest, and Education Officer at the Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture, and Information, Ermide Mathurin, also formed part of the delegation.
Saint Lucia’s delegation engaged in various activities throughout the conference including a Destination Media Briefing with international media, and CTO’s business proceedings, including sessions for the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and the Ministerial Council. At one of the many panel discussions on topical areas, Richard Moss lead discussions on innovative tourism strategies as the moderator of the "AI Revolution in Caribbean Travel" panel. Additionally, Junior Minister Iara Ernest contributed to the Youth Congress Debate, focusing on the theme “Collaboration Across Cultures.”
SOTIC 2024 promises valuable insights from industry experts on marketing, aviation, cruise, technology, and sustainability. Saint Lucia aims to strengthen Caribbean ties, actively engage in progressive discussions, and highlight the island’s commitment to advancing the tourism sector.
Saint Lucia’s involvement at SOTIC reflects its dedication to adapting to industry trends through emerging technologies to transform visitor experiences and drive positive change in Caribbean tourism.
