1000 men to receive free PSA testing!

One thousand men in Saint Lucia will receive free prostate cancer screening through a collaboration between the Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association’s Tourism Enhancement Fund, Lions Club of Gros Islet and Laboratory Services Ltd.

Throughout September, in observance of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, men will have access to Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) tests—a quick and simple blood test used to screen for the disease.

The SLHTA’s Tourism Enhancement Fund, in keeping with its pledge to positively impact current and future generations, has provided EC$20,000 towards the initiative. Six hundred team members from the hospitality and tourism industry will benefit from the free testing.

SLHTA and RSLPF continue collaboration

The Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA) is proud to announce the successful completion of a customer service training session provided to officers of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) on Friday 6th September 2024. This important collaboration underscores the commitment of both organizations to raising the bar of professionalism across sectors that directly interact with the public and contribute to the visitor experience.

This training builds on a series of developmental programs sponsored by the SLHTA over the past year, which have focused on key areas such as etiquette, professionalism, and building self-confidence.

These initiatives are designed to ensure that every interaction, whether by industry professionals or service providers like the police force, is characterized by excellence. As the tourism industry continues to grow, fostering a culture of exceptional service and professionalism across all sectors will greatly enhance Saint Lucia’s appeal as a world-class destination.

The SLHTA extends its sincere gratitude to the trainers from Bay Gardens Resorts and Royalton who facilitated the day's session, and we look forward to continuing this partnership in the future for the benefit of our tourism industry and the island.

Saint Lucia participates in SOTIC

(SLTA)- From September 2-6 2024, Saint Lucia participated in the State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) 2024 at the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa, Grand Cayman. Saint Lucia’s delegation engaged in various activities throughout the conference including a Destination Media Briefing with international media, and CTO’s business proceedings, including sessions for the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and the Ministerial Council. At one of the many panel discussions on topical areas, Richard Moss lead discussions on innovative tourism strategies as the moderator of the "AI Revolution in Caribbean Travel" panel. Additionally, Junior Minister Iara Ernest contributed to the Youth Congress Debate, focusing on the theme “Collaboration Across Cultures.”
