Men's Breakfast
Thursday, May 30, 8:00 - 9:00 am
Elsie's Restaurant, 729 Marshall St NE
It's caffeine and camaraderie for members of MCC and guests! This group meets every other Thursday and is hosted by various members who get the conversation going.
This week's topic: Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) where money talks and BS walks.
NIL is short for "name, image and likeness." Basically, for a student athlete, NIL means they are able to enter into contracts to endorse products and make money off their personal brand. They can do commercials for TV, post branded ads on their social media channels and have companies do the same.
Bruce Pankonin will lead a discussion about NIL from the perspective of a nationally recruited high school baseball player, Bruce’s grandson, including a brief history of NIL and its impact on college athletic programs and the individual student/athlete.
Bruce will show you how your favorite college program compares to the competition. Spoiler alert, alumni get ready to open your wallets if you want to see a winning program at your alma mater.

Founded in the 16th century by a Spanish friar, the UNESCO World Heritage Site city is an uncommonly beautiful throwback to the Mexico of a more romantic era. In addition to viewing the magnificent and varied architecture, the group will meet local people, understand their art and music, its importance to their way of life, and experience the richness of their traditions, culture and cuisine. Please join us for an information meeting about this trip on Monday, June 17 at 3:00 in the MCC offices. Nancy Gardner who has spent several winters in San Miguel will be on hand to share her extensive knowledge of the area, answer questions and address any concerns.
