Midweek at Vineyard

We had 21 players step out on Wednesday, March 20th, to The Vineyard at Escondido. As usual, lately, the day started out a little chilly, but it ended up being a beautiful, sun-shiny day! The course was in very good shape.  

We played the forward silver tees with a slope of 115 and a total yardage of 4854 yards, which was a pretty reasonable and manageable distance for most. Still, some came into the 19^th hole with a few fewer balls than they started with!

In attendance for their first event with the San Diego Chapter were Dana Ingram, referred by Stacey Forcier, Maria Chavez, referred by Pat Haberman, and Janice Pavelko. Janice is actually a long-time LPGA Amateurs member and a dual member with the Orange County Chapter. Welcome, ladies!

Our Game of the Day was Even Holes. This round also counted for the Players’ Cup. The winners for our Low Net Even Holes game are:

Players Cup Update

We are five eligible events into the 2024 season. Below are your top 12 in both the Gross and the Net Division. All players are eligible. Since this is a Midweek event, only 1/2 the regular points are allocated.

Gross Division:

Stacey Hayashi eats into the lead of Deb Finlon, reducing it from 20 to 14 by earning 6 points with her 3^rd place finish at the Vineyard. Kim Greco drops to 3^rd place, still 19.5 back from Deb. Denise Nelesen moves up from 8^th place to 4^th. But Margaret Ashwell makes the biggest move by jumping from 16^th to 10^th and a spot on the top 12 with her score of 86 coming in tied for 1^st with Cathy Wright. 

Net Division:

Cathy Wright made the big move in this division by winning low net of the day in the midweek at Vineyard with a net of 68. She moves up to 9^th place from T42 with her 12.5 points for 1^st place. The only other move was Denise Nelesen and Stacey Hayashi switching places, with Denise moving up to 2^nd, with a slightly better finish moving Stacey to 3^rd in the net game.
