YOUTH MINISTRY TEAM (YMT)

Each year, rising 9th-12th grade youth from across the diocese apply to be a part of our Youth Ministry Team (YMT). This group of teenagers volunteer countless hours to plan and staff our diocesan youth events throughout the year. This includes school night meetings, weekend planning sessions, and full weekend blocks, and for many of our youth, this is a multi-year commitment.

In a world where living out our faith as Episcopalians can be difficult, this group of teenagers embodies the “Jesus Movement,” as championed by Presiding Bishop Curry.

As we wrap up the 2023-24 program year, the 2024 class of graduating seniors deserve our gratitude and recognition. Blake Shaner joined YMT as an 8th grader and has been an integral part of the team for his entire high school career. A member of St. Paul's, Salem, Blake utilized his tech skills to run our slideshows and was often our event photographer. Blake has grown into a skilled small group leader, the MC for this year's Y@C and an all around valued YMT leader. We are thankful for Blake's commitment and commend him for his 5 years of faithful service to the youth of this diocese.

ST. ANNE'S EPISCOPAL DAY SCHOOL

From using our imaginations to viewing transportation in the Virginia Museum of Transportation, we experienced a creative educational unit! We learned about transportation in the air, on the road, in the dirt, in the water and more. We enjoyed singing and moving to songs about transportation, using paint, newspaper, and glue to create transportation crafts. We used air and helium to experiment with transportation. Our students had a wonderful time exploring the museum. Thank you for having us!
