NEW AND EASY ONLINE APPLICATION FOR ONTARIO WORKS

Ontario Works (OW) has been going through a transformation over the past few years and the Centralized Intake process is one of the next steps of the evolution.

What does this mean for individuals applying for OW?

Applicants can apply through two different paths – apply online or apply over the phone.

Both paths lead to the Centralized Intake hub called the Intake and Benefit Administration Unit (IBAU).

From there, the application is either determined to be eligible or ineligible for Ontario Works.

  • If the application is deemed eligible, the applicant will still meet with an OW caseworker to complete forms and are provided with information about community services and supports.
  • If the application is deemed ineligible, the applicant can appeal the decision; information about the appeal process will be sent to the applicant with their denial letter.
