Wheaton Revitalization Project Ahead of Schedule and on Budget
Construction started in June. Since early September, more than 90 businesses in the immediate vicinity of the Wheaton Triangle area who may have suffered losses due to the construction became eligible to submit applications for financial assistance through the County's Small Business Assistance Program. The program was established to help business owners during the three-year construction period.  Read more about the construction project, the small business assistance and the promotional campaign here.

--- Neighborhood FUNDS Available---
The Neighborhood Events Matching Fund was established by Montgomery County to encourage capacity building, networking and to stimulate the local economy.  Maximum grant amount is $1,000.  Funds must be matched and t he event must take place this Fiscal Year - by June 30, 2018.
 
Applying is easy.  Click here for the application form, complete it, and email it to your Regional Services Area Director.     There is no deadline for application, but funding is limited. So, regardless whether your event is next month or months away apply now!

Provide Input - Furniture for New Wheaton Library
Montgomery County Public Libraries and the Department of General Services will be conducting an online survey from November 19th through December 17th to solicit feedback from the Wheaton community about proposed library furniture selections for the new Wheaton Library.  V isit the Wheaton Interim Library at 2400 Arcola Avenue, the second floor ballroom of the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad building, beginning Sunday November 19th through Dec 17th, to view and sit in the proposed furniture before taking the online survey.  Starting 11/19,  the survey will be available in four languages (English, Spanish, French, and Chinese) on the Wheaton Interim Library website .
To kick off the survey, please join members of the Wheaton Library Advisory Committee (LAC) at the library on Sunday, November 19 between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm.   LAC members will be available to direct residents to the proposed furniture selections and to assist residents in completing the online survey.   For additional information, contact Dianne Whitaker at 240-777-0678 or 240-777-0686.

Support Group for Formerly Incarcerated Women .
The County Commission for Women and the Dept of Corrections are starting this group to help and support women as they transition back into the community after being involved with the criminal justice system. Groups are open to women who live, or plan to live, in Montgomery County.   Groups will be held on the 1st and 3rd Saturday mornings at the Rockville Library, located at 21 Maryland Avenue . The meetings will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m., beginning Saturday, December 2.  Interested participants can get more information, exact room location, and request free child care by contacting the Montgomery County Commission for Women at (240) 777-8333 or submitting this   form More information about the Commission for Women can be found at

Affordable Care Act Enrollment is Dec 15th
There are several changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) but health insurance coverage is STILL available through the ACA. The enrollment period is December 15, so residents must enroll early to not miss the chance for affordable health coverage. You can browse and compare plans and find out what documents you need to enroll by clicking here.  Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Leggett Seeks Applicants for Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee
County Executive Leggett is seeking applicants to fill one vacancy on the Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee, for a representative of a Wheaton business that employs more than 10 people.
 
The 11-member Committee provides information and advice to the County Executive and the Director of the Mid-County Regional Services Office regarding the Wheaton Urban District.
 
Members serve three-year terms without compensation, but are eligible for reimbursement for travel and dependent care for meetings attended. Linkages to Learning Seeks Donation of
Gift Cards for Teen Holiday Gift
The Linkages to Learning (LTL) program seeks gift cards as holiday gifts for teens served by the program. LTL is a community school partnership between Montgomery County Health and Human Services, Montgomery County Public Schools and non-profit service providers which provides needed health and social services to over 5,400 students and family members in 29 elementary and middle school communities with high rates of poverty. Each holiday season, gifts are provided to children and teens. Gift cards can be of any denomination and suggested stores include Target, Walmart, BestBuy, local movie theaters and restaurants.  The goal is to collect 500 gift cards. Gift cards can be mailed to Linkages to Learning, 1401 Rockville Pike, Suite 310, Rockville, MD 20852 or staff is available to pick up cards.
