ARE YOU HUNGRY?
Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled. Luke 6:21
When Jesus preached His Sermon on the Mount, he gave the keys to success and blessing in God’s eyes; hunger!
Hunger is when a desire becomes your obsession in your life and until it’s answered, you won’t be satisfied. Hunger is the currency of heaven; the whole Kingdom is accessed through hunger. Oh that we would be hungry!
There is a blessing when you hunger for righteousness.
Throughout the gospels, Jesus did things for hungry people that He didn’t do for others. The woman with the issue of blood, Blind Bartimaeus and Zacchaeus were all individuals who pressed past opposition, fear and what people thought to grab hold of Jesus and they all received what they were hungering for. Paul’s whole life was a violent, hungry search to discover more of Jesus.
The Donner party went to great lengths to fulfill the needs of the hunger in their stomachs. They ended up eating other humans that had passed away on the journey. Now that is extreme, but hungry people will do extreme things to get their need met.
Hunger in the Kingdom is unique, because in the natural world if you’re hungry, you eat some food and you aren’t hungry anymore, you’re full. But in the Supernatural when you’re hungry for more of Jesus, He fills you and that hunger grows deeper. You will never get enough of Him! There’s always more to get a hold of!
When your ultimate goal is to have a greater proximity to Jesus, your longing for a greater nearness to the Lord will release greater realms of His power.
Jeremiah 29:13 tells us that when we seek the Lord with all of our hearts, then we will find Him. That’s a promise! When you hunger to be close to the Lord, He will respond!
So I ask you today…Are you hungry for Jesus? I mean really hungry? What extreme measures are you taking to make sure your hunger is met?
Declaration to Life: Thank you Lord for seasons of hunger in my life. Holy Spirit increases my capacity for greater intimacy with Jesus. And I thank you in advance for the blessing that comes with hunger.
