FREEDOM
Therefore if the Son makes your free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36
One of America’s slogans is: the land of the free and the home of the brave!
The word “freedom” brings many word pictures into my mind – our nations flag blowing in the wind, soldiers coming home from war with their families embracing them, a Bald Eagle soaring in the blue sky, the song, “I’m Proud To Be An American”…and so much more. I love celebrating this special holiday celebrating America's birthday!
More importantly the word “Freedom” also relates to spiritual things. When we asked the Lord to come into our lives, He gave us freedom from sin and shame! I love the way The Message bible quotes John 8:36, “So if the Son sets you free, you are free through and through.” Are you free through and through or is something still holding you back?
As a Christian, complete freedom belongs to you! Are you completely free?
Many people associate addictions with being bound - addiction from alcohol, sexual things, food or drugs. Other things can keep you bound also, a hard heart, pride & independence, gossip, fear & worry, negativity, a bad attitude, un-forgiveness, an out of control life, a critical spirit and the list could go on and on. Do you find yourself bound by any of these things?
These things can keep you from going all the way with God. They hold you back from your full potential and cause you to miss out on the total joy God has for you!
Focus on freedom today, freedom from the things that hold you back.
The first step to freedom is admitting you are bound. Ask the Lord to forgive you, saturate yourself in the Word in the area that you need freedom, declare the Word over yourself and ask the Lord to set you free.
Declaration to Life: Whom the Son sets free is free indeed! Today, I choose to live a life free from sin and the things that hold me back from my full potential!
