Thank you to Neil, Mark and Steve Sr. for filling in for Max and me last weekend while we were away racing at Mid-Ohio. We had a great time (very hot) as Max continues to impress, lowering his personal best lap time by more than 3 seconds. He finished 2nd in his class out of 3 but on track competed with more than 70 karts. Max also took home the Series Championship for 2016 and was presented with a huge metal and marble trophy. My race class had a field of 31 laydown karts (we started 30th, based on when you paid your entry fee). I worked my way up to mid field before spinning on my own entering the Carousel. This week we received a shipment of 1/43rd scale Ford GT IMSA GTLM 2016 class winners from Monterey (Fords 1st win with the new GT). We also received the 2016 Ford GT that was shown at the Detroit Auto Show in Frozen White. The model is shown with the rear wing deployed. We should also be receiving the 1/43rd Lemans winners from 2016 in the next month or so. Also new this week is the 1/18th scale 1990 IMSA GTO championship winning Mazda RX7 driven by Pete Halsmer. Pete was kind enough to stop by the store earlier this week and personally sign a number of models for us.
This weeks new magazines include CruisNews, Classic & Sportscar, Practical Classics, Mopar Collectors Guide, Race Tech, and Total 911. We also received the AutoSport issue featuring their 24 Hours of Lemans 54 page preview guide. I know it is a week after the race but it was an awesome race!
Jan is baking a very special treat for you tomorrow...Oreo Cookie Scones! It is suppose to be dry and warm for Saturday morning and we should have a big turnout! I hope you can make it!
