Streetscape Updates
6th Street Pedestrian Safety Project

Pedestrian Safety improvements along the 6th Street corridor between Market and Folsom have started; working block by block from Howard, moving towards Market Street. The next phase will focus on sidewalks. Businesses remain open, see where to visit on the Explore6th.org map.

See the SFMTA and Public Works sites for more updates on this project as it moves forward. Construction is slated to last through 2024.
BART: Canopy and Escalator Upgrades

The SW corner of 8th and Market joins the NW corner for night-time construction related to the Traction Power Substation project (completion date 2023). Work is now taking place in front of the old Burger King and across the street at Hotel Whitcomb. Construction hours are 10 pm-5 am through June. To learn more about the substation and other areas of substation construction along Market Street, visit the BART site.

The SE corner of 8th and Market is next: BART is readying to begin the installation of a new station entrance canopy just outside Trinity Plaza. More project details here.

If you have questions or concerns about any of the BART projects at Civic Center Station and how they impact riders and pedestrians, please contact Molly Burke.
