Rumpke trash rates to increase

Miami Township residents will see an increase in their trash bills this summer. Beginning June 30, 2024, Rumpke Trash and Recycling rates will increase from $14.65 a month to $15.24 a month. The cost includes weekly recycling pickup, unlimited trash amounts, and one toter. Additional toters cost $1.50 per month.

Miami Township moved to a residential fee system in 2013. The township negotiates trash contracts every three years to secure the best rate. The trash hauler mails quarterly bills to each customer directly. The township does not receive any compensation, fees or other benefits.

Miami Township first negotiated a contract with Rumpke in 2017. The board voted to renew services in 2020 with the option of two extension years. They voted to approve the first-year extension option last year, taking effect June 30, 2024. The board will vote on a second-year extension option for a rate of $15.85 next year.

The Board of Trustees approved the Parks & Trails Plan at its May 21 meeting. The document is a thorough account of the current state of our parks system. Road resurfacing now underway

The 2024 road resurfacing program is well underway. Several streets throughout the township will be milled and paved this summer.

Gore earns parks inspection certification

Miami Township Parks Supervisor Rex Gore is now a certified playground safety inspector (CPSI) through the National Recreation and Park Association. After completing the training program, Rex can better inspect our park playgrounds for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and other safety issues. READ MORE

Two staffers who served us well

Adrianne Bell and Jay Phares retire

Adrianne Bell retires June 14 after 31 years of service to the community. She was the first person you spoke with when you called the Public Works Department for service, and her co-workers depended upon her daily. Congratulations, Adrianne!

Lieutenant Jay Phares retired in May after 34 years of service to the community. He is best known for his dedicated management of our award-winning National Night Out celebrations that are among the best in the country.

Miami Township Marketplace

Code Ninjas

The Miami Township Marketplace takes you to a unique educational destination. Code Ninjas teaches children how to code. Each student puts their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to the test by coding their own computer games.
