Meet Shmisty, our longest-tenured resident at Nine Lives. This stunning two-year-old tabby came to us from the Stockton Animal Shelter in late March and has been at our Adoption Center for almost five months now. | |

Shmisty is a vibrant and affectionate kitty who loves curling up on your lap and receiving pets, but also appreciates her personal space. Her outgoing personality shines through during playtime — she’s always ready to chase the laser pointer or explore her surroundings, making her an ideal companion for someone who enjoys an independent yet social feline friend. | |

Thanks to the generosity of our medical staff, Shmisty's adoption fee has been fully sponsored! Plus, our talented vet assistant Daisy created a beautiful custom portrait of Shmisty, which will go home with her new family.

Meet Maverick, a bundle of love who found his forever home with one of our amazing volunteers, Kikkie. This spunky senior cat, 11 years young, spent over a year at Nine Lives and was quite shy in the shelter. But thanks to our Foster-to-Adopt program, Maverick’s life took a wonderful turn. | |

Older cats can be hard to place, but Maverick’s charm eventually won Kikkie over. Now, the two are inseparable. | | |

Kikkie shared, “This spunky senior is living his best life! He loves to sleep and cuddle in the sunshine, prefers to sit on my shoulder, and still gets the occasional zoomies. He is absolutely the best boy and he makes every day better!”
We are thrilled to see Maverick thriving in his forever home and so grateful to Kikkie for giving him the love he deserves.

Solo Kitty Adoption Special | |

Our "No Orphan Kitten Left Behind" special was such a huge success that we’re extending it to all solo cats in our care!
Being alone in a shelter can be tough, and we want to help these cats find loving homes as quickly as possible. Now, any kitty without a littermate — whether they're a tiny kitten or wise senior — can be adopted for just $50 through the end of September.

Kitten Season is well underway, and like many shelters, we're facing a serious capacity crisis. The requests to save kittens seem endless, and our resources are stretched thin. Still, our team works tirelessly to save as many little lives as possible.
We've rescued almost 400 kittens already — and it’s only August! This exceeds our goal of 350 and represents almost 50% more than last year's total. It’s a huge achievement, but we couldn’t have done it without your support.
Unfortunately, the need for help during Kitten Season remains urgent. Just last Friday, our Cat Clinic Supervisor Clare arrived at work to find a box of sickly two-week-old kittens left outside our clinic. With our shelter full and foster network at capacity, Clare stepped up and took the kittens home, knowing their prognosis was grim.

Clare spent her weekend tube-feeding them every two hours, administering fluids, and doing everything possible to help them survive. By Monday, only one had made it. We named her "Pili Pala," the Welsh word for Butterfly, to symbolize transformation and hope. | | |

Pili Pala is just one of the nearly 400 little lives we've saved this year — a testament to the extraordinary dedication, compassion, and hard work our team puts in every single day. But we can’t do it alone.
