Our mission is to help our students grow academically, socially, & physically to become well-rounded responsible citizens.
School Wide Behavior Expectations: Be Positive, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be a Problem Solver

Our goal is to move all students up one proficiency level in ELA and Math on
state testing. Students who are already at the Advanced level will maintain that level of performance.
During the 2016-2017 school year teachers will use Fountas and Pinnell data to design differentiated instruction.
We will maintain a campus that provides a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for students.

Reflect, Review, & Reinforce
We appreciate you, our families, as important partners in your child's education. Please continue to spend time at home going over classwork, homework, and specifically assessments that come home. We want to communicate to your children that improvements are the focus, and not always perfection. Acknowledge their efforts!

Start your Day...the right way!
We ask each child to eat breakfast as soon as he or she arrives on campus. Students in before care will be directed to breakfast and others should go to breakfast immediately upon arrival BEFORE going to sit with the grade level.

Hello Metairie Academy Families

February is Heart Month.  Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer in the New Orleans area? It affects both men and women and also children.  It is the leading birth defect in babies. We are currently in the middle of our fund raiser for the American Heart Association, Jump Rope for Heart.  Our students are working hard to help raise funds for this worthy cause.

This year we've chosen to put the focus on our own heart health and those that we are helping through our donations to the American Heart Association.  In our own small school community we have 2 students and 1 sibling that we know of that have directly benefited from the research and progress made.

Although we have chosen to focus on who we are helping, students do receive prizes at different levels of funds raised.  Some prizes are immediate and others will be awarded at the end of our fundraising event.

We are asking you to please encourage your children to ask friends and family to make a donation.  Even small amounts add up to make a big difference.  Online donations are very easy.  Checks are also acceptable.

Thank you so much for your
support of this worthy cause.

Do you shop or order things on Amazon?
Well now Metairie Academy can benefit by how much you shop on Amazon by using AmazonSmile.

Pre-K students recently hosted a community helpers day.  Each student could come dressed to school as their favorite community helper.

We are building our school community!

Over the next couple of months, Ms. Leslie will be organizing a community building activity as she plans for the painting of an enormous US map on the asphalt in the front courtyard of our school.  We will need donations of outdoor acrylic paint, brushes, rollers, sponge brushes, and families to volunteer!  More details will be sent out once a supply list has been made and the map template ordered. We are planning for a paint day in January.

Memories are made to be Remembered!

Pull-Tabs for Charity
Pull for the House

One of the easiest ways to help the House                  is by collecting pull tabs!
This important program helps fund various household expenses at Ronald McDonald House. Families pay $10 per night for their stay, but it actually costs the house $68 per night to house each family. The pull tab program helps supplement those costs, including buying food for the house pantry and providing gas for the house van.   Ronald McDonald Houses collect pop tabs instead of entire aluminum cans because it's more hygienic to store tabs than cans, and collection and storage is easier.
(This program helps others)
