The new year is here!.
Our board is moving forward in the new year with many opportunities to help serve our community of Historic Highland Park. Coming up in the next few weeks we are excited for these events:
- A Town Hall with Council District 14 Councilmember Kevin DeLeon, an opportunity for our stakeholders to hear first hand what his plans are for our community
- The initial meeting about the Northeast Los Angeles Community Plan, with a stakeholder-led ad hoc committee
- An invitation for the community to tell us where to plant over 100 free trees the City of Los Angeles is providing to Highland Park
- Another zoom webinar presented by our Sustainability Committee - about how to take advantage of local transportation routes and help clean our air.
Also, we are gearing up for the Neighborhood Council elections which will take place later this Spring. This is a great opportunity for you to get involved and be a voice in your community. There is information on our website (highlandparknc.com) about the available positions and how to apply to be a candidate. The filing deadline is coming up on January 26th so we invite you to take a look and see if you would like to become a part of the Council.
Our Council is active with over eight committees, serving as liaison to a number of city and community organizations, so we are trying to address a lot of the concerns that we hear from you as stakeholders and we invite you to be an active voice -- whether as a committee member, a liaison, attending our Monthly Board meetings or considering joining the Board!
Please stay tuned to our newsletters, social media, and website for more details on all the activities of the Board. Most importantly, please continue to let us know what matters to you, speak up at meetings, and if you’re interested, run for the Board! While it feels hard to say happy new year, I do truly hope for a brighter and lighter year.
We are in this together, Historic Highland Park!
