Dear Members,

I am taking this opportunity to update you on two matters related to the previously announced retirement of Peter Holt.

First, the Board of Governors has appointed a Search Committee tasked with the assignment to lead a process that will culminate in the appointment of a new Chief Operating Officer and General Manager prior to Peter’s departure. Individuals who have agreed to serve on the committee are stalwart members of our community, with current or past Lambton Board of Governors experience. In addition to myself, acting as Chair, committee members include Susanne Fletcher, Marg Harvey, Rob Kerton, Scott Ray, Rob Dietrich (past President), and Rob Kittel (past President). Peter Holt will serve as an advisor throughout the search process.

The committee members bring excellent credentials to the task ahead, complemented by a deep knowledge and appreciation of the Club’s history, culture, and operations. Our first meeting was convened earlier this week so our efforts to find a suitable successor to Peter are underway.

Secondly, Peter has suggested he advance the timing of his retirement to May 31, 2024. The rationale for choosing this date is based on norms within the private golf club industry, characterized by senior executives typically evaluating career changes over the winter months vs. initiating a transition in the middle of a busy golf season. Further, it is standard practice for senior executives in the industry to have agreements that require up to 3 months' notice of resignation. Lambton’s opportunity to identify and hire a top notch successor is best served with a search process that commences sooner rather than later. Peter believes his revised date is in the best interests of Lambton which will allow for a transition period between Peter and his successor.

In closing, the winter months promise to be busy for our newly appointed Search Committee, and for Peter, who is keen to conclude his tenure with vigour. Peter has objectives and projects he intends to finish prior to bringing on a successor and when he does depart, Lambton will be in a much better position than when he arrived.

Thank you all, and I hope you are taking advantage of the myriad of activities and events scheduled at the Club even as the weather cools down. I will keep you posted on the developments in our search and other matters in the months ahead.

Thank you,

Greg Nordal

Club President
