On behalf of our Staff and Board of Directors, I am writing to update you on United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region's response to COVID-19. This is new territory for us, but just as our United Way evolved from a War Chest to Community Chest in response to our community’s needs, so we are evolving now.

We are actively responding to the needs of this evolving crisis in several ways. We’ve put together a fund to help families in crisis , we’ve set up a community resource page and posted our visitor policy and COVID-19 FAQs . United Way’s confidential 2-1-1 helpline is answering calls 24/7 from our community, not only about COVID-19, but also about shelter, food access, and employment.

I’d like to express my personal thanks to all of our government leaders, helping steer us through this crisis, and to our frontline responders, providing health care, safety and security as well as those working in warehouses, delivering goods, cooking meals for take-out, stocking shelves and checking us out at stores throughout the area. By your continuing service, you are helping all of us. Thank you.

Please know that in order to help flatten the curve and do our best to practice social distancing, as of today, our office is working 80% remotely, but we will continue our work on behalf of our community.

In light of COVID-19, we are postponing our Celebration of Service Awards Dinner and will honor all existing reservations, sponsorships and ad placements for the new date. Our FUNdraiser Pull the Plane is still scheduled for June 13 th . We’d love to have you join us for this fabulous fun event that celebrates the best of community. Please go to www.pulltheplane.org to find out more and let’s all plan for a day celebrating community strength!

Remember to follow the recommendations of your healthcare provider and practice social distancing as much as possible. Skype, FaceTime, What's App are great options to keep you connected with friends and family and stay healthy and safe.

Please follow us on  Facebook Instagram LinkedIn  and  Twitter  to keep in touch virtually. Thank you again for your support.

Sincerely,
Jeannie
