We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Wendy Fraser for her five years of loving, dedicated and impeccable service. Wendy has faithfully continued and further developed Seeds of Light's existing programs -- such as the Ekurhuleni Center for Orphans and Vulnerable Children, the children's art program and our food security projects -- and she has also expanded our reach into new and important areas in the marginalized community of Acornhoek.
Long ago Wendy wisely recognized the importance of focusing on girls: Statistics show that African girls who graduate from high school without getting pregnant and contracting HIV often go on to make significant contributions to their community and achieve other forms of success. Wendy's focus on girls' empowerment and education, including reproductive health education, has given many girls in Acornhoek an extraordinary opportunity for success in life.
We are very proud of the new programs Wendy has developed for girls, as well as other critical programs serving the children and adults of Acornhoek, such as the Cubs and Scouts program and our reading program.
Thank you, Wendy! Your legacy will live on through Seeds of Light and through the lives of the many people you touched!!
With all our love and gratitude,
