The House executive branch (HB 6) and judicial branch (HB 264) budget proposals were filed on Tuesday. The House transportation budget is still awaiting release. In addition, several county-related bills saw movement:
HB 5 passed the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday. It creates harsher penalties for violent crimes and spotlights new consequences for homeless encampments.
HB 53 received an informational-only hearing and would require the Attorney General to randomly select, in all counties, at least one ballot scanner and one race tabulated on that scanner for a hand-to-eye recount to be performed by each county clerk.
HB 137 passed the House unanimously today. The bill removes the residency requirement for assistant county attorneys.
SB 10 passed on the Senate floor this week 26-9. The bill would propose an amendment to the constitution to move elections for state constitutional officers, including the governor’s race, to even-numbered years beginning after the 2027 election.
SB17 passed on the Senate floor this week unanimously. The bill would create efficiencies for families and coroners by issuing the medical certification after any medical tests results are conclusive.
