The perfect beard is hard to come by and even more difficult to grow, unless you're NC hog farmer Roddy Purser. Purser owns White Rock Farm in Peachland, NC where he raises hogs, dairy cows and layer hens, all while maintaining an award-winning beard.
Jason Menke, director of consumer public relations at the National Pork Board described the beard as, "Both rugged and well groomed, which is a difficult balance. He also gets bonus points for embracing the natural grey."
Purser wasn't the only North Carolinian on the list. Board member and grower Jay Archer of Tarboro found his way into the top 10 with a beard Menke described as a "double-threat."
