Digital Maine Library: WSJ, Ancestry.com & More!

Did you know? Some of the databases and subscriptions you access through Fogler Library are available to us through the Digital Maine Library, funded by the state of Maine to ensure all Maine residents have free access to full text articles and other content from reliable sources. Publications include the Wall Street Journal and Nature. Some frequently used databases provided by the state of Maine include Ancestry.com, Gale Literary Criticism, and Environment Complete.

Access to these resources is fully incorporated into Fogler Library’s website, catalog and database pageso there’s no need to go to the Digital Maine Library’s website to use them. However, if you’d like to learn more about the Digital Maine Library, you can read more on their About page.

New Catalog Update: Temporary Request Service Interruption

The University of Maine System Libraries (UMSL) will experience a temporary request service interruption from June to late September 2024. Public library patrons will be unable to initiate an online request from UMSL. The interruption is due to enhancements being implemented, which will contribute to a more seamless and user-friendly experience, aligning with UMSL's mission to provide exceptional library services.

University of Maine System Libraries will remain open as usual providing access to our collections and services.

Featured Resource: Maine Town Reports.

This collection consists exclusively of documents generated by town governments in the state of Maine dating from 1827 to the present. These include annual reports, comprehensive plans, charters, minutes of meetings, maps, and other materials that document the activities of local government. The documents provide information on a variety of subjects pertaining to local governance, such as education, infrastructure, and the local economy. Those dating from before the mid-twentieth century also provide information for the provision of welfare services to local residents. The documents dating from the early twentieth century onward provide information about town planning and environmental issues.
