Tuesday, January 31: Celebrating Vocations
By focusing on faith, knowledge and service, Catholic schools prepare children to use their God-given talents to the fullest later in life. (NCEA)

Parents/Guardians are invited to join us for all-school Mass at 10:15am. Following Mass, the Senior Class of 2023 will attend the Alumnae Luncheon and Members of Youth Mercy Associates will serve tea for the Sisters of Mercy.

Pope Francis Center Service Project
All week we will be the hands and feet of Christ by collecting items for the Pope Francis Center in Detroit. Bring donations of socks, gloves, hand warmers, or foot warmers to school. Donation bins will be available in the Reception Area, Lobby and Campus Ministry.

Wednesday, February 1: Celebrating Staff
Teachers are the backbone of Catholic schools. On this day, schools honor teachers, as well as administrators and staff who support teachers in their important work, and thank the parents, grandparents, alumni, parishioners and school board members who provide volunteer service. (NCEA)
- Lunch for faculty will be provided by Mercy Board of Trustees in appreciation of staff excellence.
Thursday, February 2: Celebrating Community
A central aspect of Catholic education is learning the importance of service to others. (NCEA)
- We are invited to be the hands and feet of Christ through collecting handwarmers, gloves, footwarmers and socks for the Pope Francis Center.

- Students may wear spirit wear from any Catholic school. Jeans, sweatpants, or uniform skirts may be worn. Last day for Pope Francis Center collection and some surprise fun.

As the new semester season begins, plans for Mercy’s annual Father-Daughter Dance are underway! This fundraiser event hosted by the Junior Class includes lots of fun and exciting activities for Mercy students and the prominent male figures in their lives.

To kick off Catholic Schools Week, Mercy Quiz Bowl competed in the annual Heartland Catholic Scholar Bowl on Saturday, January 28. After 8 hours of grueling academic competition, Mercy A (back row) finished 8th overall, and Mercy B (front row) finished 11th overall.
A special congratulations to captain Linny Maier '23, who finished 5th place individually in the tournament with an impressive 390 points scored. Linny was the highest-scoring female competitor.

Please join us for our Performing Arts Fundraiser Love Is An Open Door on Friday, February 10th at 7:00 PM in the Mercy High School Auditorium. Join us for a wonderful evening with the Mercyaires, Mercy Mimes, actors, dancers and instrumentalists.
Mercy is proud to be the FIRST high school in Michigan given the rights from Disney to perform FROZEN, The Broadway Musical. Please help us get ready by supporting this fundraiser.
The production will require: An Epson High Brightness 20,000 Lumens Projector with lens, screen & installation ($52,000) as well as a lighting overhaul ($33,000).

The Archdiocese of Detroit will once again be hosting RISE Detroit, a gathering of high school youth at Mercy High School. At RISE, high schoolers will unpack the theme, “Finding Your Purpose” based on Jer. 29:11: "For I know well the plans I have in mind for you… plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope."

All 9-12th graders are invited to attend RISE! All attending teens must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (youth minister, high school campus minister, teacher, pastor, parent, etc.).
The speakers include Katie Prejean McGrady, Bishop Battersby, Fr. Adam Nowak, Fr. Craig Giera, and Sr. Felicity Madigan. Activities include keynotes, powerful praise and worship experiences, two breakout sessions, small group discussion, and Liturgy!
Standard Admission: $35 for all participants: teens and adults. Includes lunch and dinner!

Junior College Planning Meetings
This is a reminder of the 1/13 & 1/23 communications in regard to the Class of 2024 parent/guardian sign-up for Junior College Planning Meetings with Counseling. If you did not have the opportunity to meet with your Junior's counselor, these meetings will continue this semester and take place at Mercy.
Marlin Shop
The Marlin Shop normal business hours are after school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Quarter zips are available for purchase for $35. Cash, check, credit card and Apple Pay accepted.
