HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST PREP COURSE

The High School Placement Test Prep Course program will focus entirely on preparing eighth graders for the November 18 and the December 2 placement test in the Archdiocese of Detroit. The program includes one 3-hour session. Students can earn better grades, score higher on the HSPT and potentially earn scholarships. They will be more motivated and confident because they will have the tools to succeed.

Morning session: 8:00am - 11:00am

Afternoon session: 12:00pm - 3:00pm


The course will be facilitated by Mrs. Zena Samona-Ibrahim ’96. Mrs. Ibrahim taught middle school science at Our Lady of Sorrows school, and has been instructing a prep course for the HSPT for over 18 years. We are thrilled to welcome her back to Mercy to prepare our prospective students for this exam. The course will focus on helping students acquire greater expertise in reading, verbal, math, and test taking skills. The subjects covered will include: 

 

●       Reading comprehension and vocabulary

●       Grammar, usage, and writing skills

●       Algebraic operations

●       Problem solving

●       Time management

●       Test taking skills  

 

The course will cost $100 and will include a copy of "The Peterson’s Master the Catholic High School Entrance Exam." Snacks and water will be provided.

OPEN HOUSE

You're invited to discover what it means to be a Mercy girl at our Fall Open House Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Open House is an opportunity for families to tour Mercy High School, meet students and staff, and learn more about the curriculum. Tours generally last an hour and include short presentations made by Mercy's academic departments.

 

Mercy Alumnae and their families are invited to an early open house legacy tour from 12:30pm - 1:00pm. Arrive at the Chapel entrance. General Open House tours will begin at the Gymnasium/Auditorium entrance.

HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST

Eighth grade students interested in attending Mercy must take the High School Placement Test. Cost of the HSPT is $50.


All students must register online to take the HSPT. Students have through the Thursday before each test to register or make changes online. Registration will open through the AOD and will also be posted on the Mercy website on September 1.

SHADOW A STUDENT

8th grade students are invited to spend one school day at Mercy beginning September 26, 2023. Experience our campus, attend classes, meet teachers and discover the amazing atmosphere at Mercy. A delicious lunch is provided and guests leave with a special Mercy T-shirt, bag and other giveaways. 


You can request a Mercy 9th or 10th grader for your student to spend the day with, or we can pair her with a student based on similar interests. At the end of the day, students will meet with one of our Admissions staff. 


Stay tuned! The online shadow a student request form will be posted September 1. Please note we welcome 8th grade students first semester and 7th and 8th grade students in the second semester.
