Thanks to all who continue mentoring remotely, in-person with precautions, or in a hybrid method. Mentoring helps build quality of life, opportunity, and workforce development.
August Advocacy Update Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK-04) is a sponsor of H.R.3342 - Youth Workforce Readiness Act of 2021. He also mentors novice legislators in the House of Representatives mentoring program. Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK-2) is an original sponsor of the H.R.3083 - Foster Youth Mentoring Act of 2021.

Among many speakers and researchers presenting during the Therapeutic Mentoring Course from UMass Boston, Jazzmyn Rodrigues, a program manager for Mentor 2.0, Big Brothers Big Sisters Eastern Massachusetts, shared a description and a list of activities for remote or in-person mentoring. Mentor 2.0 uses the iMentor online platform and Padlet for activities. Adaptable for different ages, although Mentor 2.0 targets high school mentees.

Tulsa's NextGen Talent Externship Program The Tulsa Regional Chamber Chamber has partnered with state Sen. Kevin Matthews, D-Tulsa, and Tulsa Public Schools to launch Tulsa's NextGEN Talent, an initiative providing externship opportunities to African-American high school students at TPS. Business sponsors contribute career exploration, executive-level access, job shadowing opportunities, and a meaningful experience for participating students.

K-12 Journey Map from MENTOR Minnesota. This tool helps youth and mentors track important milestones as youth make the journey from school to postsecondary education and career planning. Postsecondary mentees can create their own as a mentor-mentee activity.

Mentoring for Adult Refugees and Migrants
Gysbert Bergsma, Friesland, Netherlands, shared the Create your Future mentoring program during the National Mentoring Summit, January 2020, in DC. This replicable model incorporated refugees from Eritrea in Africa and Syrians in the Middle East. Europe began mentoring in 2005-2015 with the influx of refugees. Mentoring refugees continues.

Career Readiness Curriculum For the past 25 years, Partners for Youth with Disabilities has been running its Career Readiness program in Boston-area classrooms. The curriculum is now available for other teachers and schools to implement it in their own classrooms.
