Memorial leadership team with all of our new teachers for the 2024-25 school year!

Friday, August 9, 2024

Dear Mark,

It is time for the big day! The first day of the 2024-25 School Year.

We are so excited to see our SOLDIERS BACK on campus with us! Meet The Teacher was an energizing experience for our students, families and teachers.

Memorial Middle School is committed to being a safe learning environment that focuses on academic achievement and helps our students reach their goals. This year our school goal is to earn the FIRST “B” school grade ever in Memorial history.

We know we can accomplish this goal with our students focusing on their academics, parental and community support and our amazing teachers and staff.

Please take time this weekend as you spend time with your families and talk about the importance of school, being on your best behavior and trying your best. Families having these conversations with students makes a huge difference in their attitudes towards school.

We all want this year to be epic, but it takes us all working together to make it happen.

Enjoy your weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone bright and early Monday morning.

Cell Phone Policy

OCPS requires that wireless communications device(s)* be silenced and put away (in a backpack or purse) during the school day while on campus, including lunchtime and transitioning between classes.

* Wireless communication devices include but are not limited to, cell phones and/or auxiliary/ancillary devices such as watches and ear buds.

The following actions will be taken if a student violates OCPS’ cell phone policy:

• Confiscation (Item returned at the end of the day)

• Detention

• Positive Alternative to School

• Suspension (PASS)

• Out-of-School Suspension (OSS)

Pursuant to the Technology in K-12 Public Schools law that took effect on July 1, 2023 and Section 1006.07, Florida Statutes.

At no time shall OCPS be responsible for theft, loss or damage of cell phones or other electronic devices brought onto district property.

Memorial & OCPS Dress Code

As our families go out and begin to shop for the new school year, please be sure to take into account the OCPS Dress Code as you select outfits to wear to school.

First Day of School Procedures

Students should have with them a printed copy of their schedule or a screen shot. All students will go directly to their 1st period class. If your child is not sure of where their 1st period class is, we will have signs with this information and adults to assist.

Once all students get into their 1st period, they will be given a hard, paper copy of their schedule. (At this point in the day, students WILL NOT be allowed to use their phone to look at their schedule.)

After each period a bell will ring and send students to their next period.

Teachers will be sure to escort students to lunch and then at the end of the day we will have dismissal.

Special Days at Memorial

As you get ready for the new school year, please be aware of two fun days we have each week. Wednesdays are SCHOOL SPIRIT DAYS where we ask students to wear our school colors: red, black and white. Then on Fridays we celebrate ALOHA FRIDAYS, where students and teachers were tropical attire. Join in the fun!

Schedule change are not made because a student wants a different teacher, different period or classes with friends.
