Memorial Day Commemoration


Boalsburg Fire Company Carnival

Thursday, May 23rd to Monday, May 27th


The Fire Company will be selling BBQ Chicken Dinners, Burgers, Dogs, Fries, Drinks, Sloppy Joes and more. As always we will have Bingo in the Truck Room. Midway will be provided by our Friends at Sunshine Shows. Rides, Games and additional food options will be available.


The Carnival schedule is as follows:

Thursday, May 23rd - Wristband Night 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM. $25.00 buys a wristband good for unlimited rides

Friday, May 24th - Carnival will be open from 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Saturday, May 25th - Parade Day. Parade line up begins at 3:30. Check out their Facebook page. Parade begins at 5:00 PM. The Carnival will be open following the parade until 10:00 PM

Sunday, May 26th - Wristband Day. $25.00 buys a wristband good for Unlimited Rides between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM

Monday, May 27th, Memorial Day - the Carnival will be open from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM

Boalsburg Fire Company Parade Saturday, May 25th


Parade Line-up will begin at 3:30 pm with Parade starting at 5:00 pm, rain or shine. Parade participants are asked to enter via W. Main St. from Shingletown Rd. Fire Apparatus and Ambulance's will stage on Bailey Ln. off of W. Main St.


Other participants will proceed to Blue Spring Park on Wagner St. off of W. Main. Participants in vehicles may be asked to Stage along W. Main St. Floats, Twirling Groups, Bands and Marching groups will be staged in Blue Spring Park. Fire Company personnel will be on hand to direct and answer questions. Pre-registration is not required to participate in the parade.

The Parade route will be as follows:

Leaving Blue Spring Park heading East on Pine St., making a Right on to Boal Ave., making a Right on to Main St. heading West on Main to Wagner St. Ending back at Blue Spring Park.

The Day In Town festival returns to Boalsburg on Monday, May 27th from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Over 120 arts, crafts and food vendors on Church and Main Streets.


The Boalsburg Heritage Museum on East Main Street, the Pennsylvania Military Museum and the Boal Mansion Museum will also have activities throughout the day.


7:15 to 8:15 – Registration for Memorial Day Run, Blue Spring Park

8:00 – Start Delivering Pies for Pie Contest

8:30 – Memorial Day Run

9:00 to 3:00 – St. John’s Church

Blacksmith Demonstrations

Monday, May 27th


Blacksmithing demonstrations will take place in the Boalsburg Blacksmith Shop (located to the east side of the Township Office at 224 E. Main St.) from 10 am - 4pm on Memorial Day featuring blacksmiths John Wood & Eric Johnson. There will be openings for local area school students (aged 11-18) to work alongside the blacksmiths as "blacksmith apprentices" on Memorial Day. (Contact Paula Ralph, 814-880-0338, pralph125@gmail.com, if interested.) Both half hour and full hour time slots are available, and students may sign up to work together with a friend.

6:00 PM Service and Walk to the Cemetery

Monday, May 27th


Please join friends, family and neighbors to attend the Walk to the Cemetery for the 6:00 pm service. The walk begins at the Diamond at 5:45 pm and is a tradition that has survived for over 159 years. Bring flowers to decorate a grave.



Jeff Brown will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the service. Local Boy and Girl Scout Troops will also participate. Penn State music students, Piper Weldon and Peter Cunningham will perform.


A Keynote speak will be given at the cemetery.


In the event of rain, the service will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ.
