Memo #4

LEAVES, LIGHTHOUSES & LOBSTERS

October 19-26, 2024

The Bar Harbor Inn & Famous Shore Path

 Bar Harbor, Maine

Hello friends,

Shown above is the famous Bar Harbor Inn. It will be your home during the entire time you spend in Maine on your fast approaching LEAVES, LIGHTHOUSES & LOBSTERS adventure.

Overlooking Frenchman Bay and the Porcupine Islands, the Bar Harbor Inn is an iconic New England vacation destination welcoming guests from around the world. Genuine Maine hospitality, superior service, and timeless charm greet guests upon arrival.

Located harbor side, in the heart of downtown (Bar Harbor's Main Street is just one block to the right of the photo), the Bar Harbor Inn’s beautifully landscaped eight acres offer a private retreat with easy walking access to unique shops, art galleries and waterfront activities. The casual elegance of the Bar Harbor Inn provides a perfect backdrop to explore the rocky Maine coast and Acadia National Park. You will return each evening to one of the most iconic luxury hotels in Maine to delight in its rich history, to relax, and to indulge in refreshing ocean views from your private waterfront balconies (also great locations for viewing breathtaking sunrises and overseeing the goings and comings of lobster boats going to or returning from tending their nearby lobster traps).

You can take a quick 2 minute 34 second video tour of your home away from home by clicking here.

Also, if you study the photo above you will see extending left to right and adjacent to the water's edge is a pathway. This is Bar Harbor's famous Shore Path.

Bar Harbor’s Shore Path is more than a century old. This level walking path follows the shore of Frenchman Bay from the centrally located Town’s Ells Pier to Wayman Lane along the East shore. It passes one of Bar Harbor’s oldest inns (the Bar Harbor Inn) and several historic summer “cottages”. The Porcupine Islands, Balance Rock, Egg Rock Light and the Schoodic Peninsula are just a few of the coastal sights along the way. It's "right there" for you to enjoy or watch others as they walk in the steps of the town's early "rusticators" - people like the Vanderbilts, Rockefellers, Pulitzers, and more.

Remember, your questions are always welcome.
