• Law Office of Michele Alcalde, Esq.
• Alcoeur Gardens - Alzheimer's Specialists
For the past 18 years, Michele Alcalde, Esq. has devoted her career to representing clients in immigration and criminal matters specializing in the defense of foreign nationals facing deportation and guiding them on the immigration consequences of criminal charges. With her extensive experience navigating the complex issues of immigration law, Michele has mastered just the right balance of compassion and courage in representing her clients. Michele fights for the rights of immigrants and their families professionally, directly, and with zealous advocacy. Her experience as a former Municipal Court Prosecutor for the cities of Newark and Paterson makes her uniquely qualified to guide and counsel her clients in a criminal or family court setting. Michele is dedicated to a long list of legal associations and volunteer initiatives and is particularly proud of her current role as Chair of the Immigration Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and as an active member of the Freehold Borough Education
Foundation.

In 2011, Michele opened the doors to her own practice now with two offices – Freehold and Red Bank – where her calling for public service and community outreach have become widespread. So much so, that her practice has become virtual handling immigration cases throughout the 50
states.

In spite of all the awards and accolades in recognition of her many career achievements and as a fierceness advocate for Latino communities, it is the building of her team for which Michele is most proud. Working out of the Freehold office, the team guides clients with sensitivity and fortitude through difficult immigration issues. The close-knit colleagues include Nicole Guardino, Law Office Administrator, who handles scheduling, and communications with the courts and with all of the major immigration institutions. Edith Azcatl is the firm’s Paralegal who oversees all matters before the Department of Homeland Security, Municipal Courts, and Superior Courts, working closely with clients in the collection of documents for the best outcomes in their cases. With a master’s degree in social work, Client Relations Manager, Brenda Codallos assists clients in resolving domestic violence issues, substance abuse, drug addiction, and anger management. The newest member, Jackeline Lara, heads the front desk and supports the staff’s busy daily initiatives. And finally, the youngest member, Emma Lee, manages all social media accounts. By supporting and championing each other's endeavors, this sisterhood of six is a force to be reckoned with for their clients and the communities they serve.

Alcoeur, a French term meaning "from the heart" Gardens, the mission statement is simple; committed to providing the best quality care to those with Alzheimer's and other forms of memory impairment in a home-like setting. We provide a warm, intimate facility, with dignified care in a residential neighborhood. Alcoeur Gardens is a place where your loved one can enjoy a safe environment, entertainment, nature, friendly staff, good nutritious food, and find personal peace. We are a family-owned and operated business. Denise VanTassell (RN, LNHA, CALA) founded Alcoeur Gardens in 2003 after earning nursing and biology degrees from CUNY Staten Island and New York Regents College. Her two daughters, Christy Minetello (LPN) and Deanna Tuccio (RN) are both nurses as well and work together to ensure our
residents receive the best care.
Alcoeur Gardens provides sensitive, carefully designed 24-hour care and supervision. Our beautiful interiors and grounds create a comfortable and safe environment for your loved one – like the home they have known all their life. We provide care for them like they are our own family and loved ones.
We know that safety is a primary concern and we understand the risks associated with memory impairment. Our home design reflects our commitment to safety through the use of discreet alarms on our gates, doors, and windows. These provide safety while allowing for free movement and wandering throughout the house and grounds. Even with the new era that COVID-19 has ushered us into, our commitment to our home-like environment has not changed. Due to the rigorous efforts of our entire team, our residents are able to live in a world where the pandemic “does not exist”; all of their meals and activities are shared together.

We are eagerly awaiting the opening of our newest location, Alcoeur Gardens of Aberdeen! Our brand-new building is located at 1288 Route 34, Aberdeen Township, with parking lot access from Woodbrook Drive. This beautiful home is one story and will have a maximum capacity of 18 residents, ensuring we are able to continue our person-centered care approach.
