Today, the Ohio Municipal League (OML) announced a new group health insurance program, OML Health Alliance, exclusively for its members. The new program leverages the collective buying power of OML’s 700+ member municipalities to secure reduced rates and lower annual rate increases compared to those available in the commercial market. Members with program effective dates of September 1, 2024, or later can begin accessing the new Health Alliance program.
Kent Scarrett, Ohio Municipal League Executive Director, stated, “Utilizing a unique partnership with USI Insurance Services, our distribution partner, and various risk managers, we have developed a program based on best practices adopted by large employers that will offer our members the potential for significant savings.”
The new Health Alliance will have its own risk pool, which will allow the plan to offer members immediate savings and long-term stability. Employers will also receive pharmacy rebates directly, just like large companies, and a free benefit administration program to assist with administering their benefit programs.
OML members can access the new Health Alliance program, regardless of their current plan year, as early as September 1, 2024. The program is flexible enough to match nearly any benefit structure, deductible and plan year. OML will also leverage existing group purchasing programs to secure additional discounts for members on dental, vision, life, disability and other insurance coverages.
